TFA was not as good as the OT, but it was better than the prequels.
So I'd have to say he did a better job with Star Wars. He gave Star Trek a bit of CPR before snapping its neck but he brought Star Wars back from hopelessness and gave a solid movie.

They ruined the EU, cancelled Clone Wars, laid off the Lucas Arts staff, and they rushed out a sterile reshash of episode four. Star Trek on the other hand is not ruined and is doing just fine.
