Ben Solo enters Luke's Jedi academy. Trains with him long enough to become a powerful Jedi. Then turns to the dark side and wipes out the entire academy. This is probably when Luke's wife (Rey's mom) is killed.
Rey is left on Jakkoff or whatever by her mom. She looked about 7 or 8 in that scene so probably about 10-15 years go by before the film stars. So luke has been missing for 10-15 years.
Ben solo must have been about 19 or 20 at least when he turned evil and wiped out the academy so he should be around 35 years old. But Rey and him are obviously around the same age. None of this makes sense and none of it adds up.

If six edgy 14 year olds at Skywalker academy decided to "become sith" Headmaster Skywalker would just force-spank them and ground them, not abandon his friends, abandon his daughter on a desert planet, let the empire reform and take over again meaning everything in the original trilogy was for nothing, give his lightsaber to a gnome, put R2 in sleep mode and just run off and become a recluse hiding on an island a million miles away from everyone.
For all of that to happen it would require some massively traumatic event. I really was hoping for Luke to come swoop in in that scene multiple times. Like, just from a character development standpoint, I thought they'd let Kylo win at least one fight before being turned into a jobber.

Kylo beats Decoy.
