Nah boot camp was insane in the book!
Fight Club and Shutter Island couldn't believe how similar it was, in the book the ending was just a little longer and pointless.
The movie dispensed with all the orating and philosophising about the nature of the universe,
and that really irritating psalm-singing character.
It was a lot more entertaining that way.

Based off a manga, but whatever, the manga fucking sucks.
Nothing of note happens throughout the entire manga, heck, they even FAKE killing the protagonist's friend, only to reveal that they merely made him unconscious.
