Mine was Audrey, they tried to screw her on season 2 but she remained the best female character. The worst one by far was Donna, she was the worst character followed by that mental retarded biker. I think what made me hate Donna even more is the fact that in real life Lara Flynn Doyle is as hateful as her, she was jealous of Sherilyn Fenn and interposed the Cooper-Audrey relationship (she was dating him), leading to that cheap relationship between Cooper and Annie.
The two biggest mistakes of season 2 was the abrupt end of the relationship of Cooper and Audrey, which made absolutely no sense, and having had almost twice as many episodes than was needed, there was at least four dispensable episodes centered in Donna and James, they was painful to watch and had no contribution to the plot.

I watched the first couple of episodes over a decade ago and i remember liking the series, but nowadays i don't remember what it was about. I heard that most of what made it good was dropped because of producers messing with it later on either way. So my question is:

I totally agree with you brother, if the Wyndam Earle stuff was handled properly it could have been almost as great a throughline as Laura's murder. The concept of putting Coop directly at the center of the plot and exploring his background while a malevolent outside force descended upon Twin Peaks could have been amazing.

I'm doing my first rewatch right now, and I still feel that Donna gets a bad rap. I mean fuck Lara Flynn Boyle for taking away one of the best payoffs the show had to offer, but I don't think you can deny that she had chops. Her character was also integral to the plot, she was the biggest representation of innocence and the Nancy Drew crime solving was right in line with what the show was all about. Also, I recently rewatched Lonely Souls and not only is it now probably my favorite episode but it reveals that Donna, Bobby, and Coop were the true protagonists of the story.
