Probably their coolest release this year. In any case, looking forward to this.
>>63756949
I think that's why they call them 'blu(e) ray' lol
>>63756949
>long unavailable movie is finally released
>complain about the distributor releasing the movie
never change
It only took them 8 years
>>63757115
I'm hoping another distributor gets the rights for another region and does a better job if the Criterion features their trademark Macroblocking™.
>4 hour long film about some boring chinese shit
no dude... no
is the movie even good?
yi yi fucking sucked ass just like Boyhood
>>63757394
pleb
>>63757394
>>63757373
get back to your Star Wars threads boys
finally
after all those years of pretending they need to sell garbage like wes anderson to get the funding for it
>>63757415
Okay explain why this film is good. I bet you can't because you just use film as a fashion accessory like the rest of the poseurs on here.
>>63756949
Holy shit i thought Criterion was top notch digital compression, what's with making everything blue? Christ I'm really glad i didn't throw my money on Criterion releases, how are they so successful?
http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&d1=2389&d2=563&s1=22034&s2=5717&i=0&l=0
>>63757490
I haven't seen it. It's been unavailable until now. I'm so excited for this release because I have been waiting forever to see it.
tell me what's so good about Star Wars
>>63757673
>doesn't give a shit about some Chink story
>Y U STAR WAR FAN??
>>63757641
It isn't that everything us blue, it is that the compression suffers frim macroblocking, which eliminates details. All of their releases for the past six months have featured this. Apparently they haven't adjusted their encoding settings for 4k scans. Check out criterionforum.org for more info.
>>63757764
if someone insults a movie based on its plot occurring in Asia then I'm guessing that person has the retrograde intelligence required to line up for Star Wars
>>63757764
it's the new low brow "michael bay/explosions" retort of the month
>>63757432
>tfw the blu ray release of Sorcerer didn't come with any special features besides the booklet
>>63757764
so you can't??
fuck yes I've been waiting for so long
I can finally get rid of my awful vhs rip
>>63755613
I've been waiting for Marty to release this shit for 5 fucking years now.
I can hardly believe it.
>>63757673
>>63755798
>>63758073
>he didn't watch the lazerdisc
fucking criterion plebs who only care about a film when it comes out on muh hipster
>>63758229
wasn't it only available until now as a rip that came with hardcoded subtitles or something?
>>63758229
Sorry, grandpa
>>63757794
I don't even know, but seriously I was about to pay 48 dollars for the Fanny and Alexander Box Set this christmas but not anymore, I mean look at this, I'm speechless
http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&d1=2389&d2=563&s1=22042&s2=5725&i=9&l=0
So glad I find this thread, and thank you anon >>63756949
>>63758229
but I watched the shitty rip, I'm just glad I can finally watch it properly
I really don't see the problem here
>>63756949
tbph familia it was the directors who changed the color timings on Dressed to Kill and My Own Private Idaho and not Criterion
>>63758388
What is wrong? The screenshot looks good
>>63758997
The Criterion one is trimmed on the sides and the white grittines to preserve definiton brings down the color palette as a result, It looks unnecessary pale. Also I can't get over the blueness in this, is almost like a filter
http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a=0&d1=2389&d2=563&s1=22034&s2=5717&i=0&l=0
I'm a pleb. why should i watch this movie i never heard of?
>>63761053
because most humans like to discover new things
>>63761119
yes that's why i'm curious about it. i want to know why everyone is so hype though.
>>63755613
I remember a few summers ago I had taken a few vicodin and ate a small pot brownie and watched this. JUST COMFY
>>63761398
that was a poorly constructed sentence, perhaps I should cut back on the drugs
>>63757115
>>63757189
can you guys explain for a dummy like me what's the deal with the shit quality? i can't unravel
>>63761151
because it's a new film that's why, watch something familar and hopefully you'll understand
>>63761799
i guess it was already answered sorry lads
>>63761920
dude i just want someone to say why they like this fucking movie quit being a wiseass.
>>63762017
from the trailer and pictures i'm already in love with the atmosphere and cinematography, i don't know what else is there to say, i also like the premis
>>63762017
It's from a great director that has been kind of forgotten because all his films has been in copyright hell for years and now some of them are finally available.
This one is one of his best, so just having a vhs rip or a laserdisc version was painful. If you want to know more about him watch Yi Yi, the best film ever senpai
>>63758890
The point of those links is to show the macroblocking on the Criterion releases.
>>63761053
Edward Yang is one of the great directors.
