They're going to the singing towers in this xmas special. Moffat retconned his minisodes.

I really hope that's not true. It would rip the piss out of 11 finally growing up and saying goodbye to her data ghost in NotD if he hadn't even done Singing Towers by that point.
Also it seems redundant to follow up '12 loses his companion' with '12 loses his wife' immediately.

What really doesn't make sense is that 11 now never gave her the sonic screwdriver he uses to save her to the Library even though he was sure he was going to die on Trenzalore before he got the new cycle of regenerations from the Time Lords through the crack.

Fun has been completely stripped from it. It's not re-watchable at all. The stories are bland, bleak and depressing. Clara has been the most unlikable companion since Mel and had the Doctor on a leash.
The 12th Doctor, who was supposed to be super alien and distant from people seems to have this bizarre infatuation with Clara and just Clara despite her being the most unlikable, jealous know-it-all on the planet.
The only rewatchable episode is episode 11. Episode 12 was possibly one of the worst episodes of the entire show as it retcons an otherwise perfect companion exit.
The opener had practically 0 plot and was just more incoherent fan-wank (did it really need to be a 2 parter?) Under the Lake was good, but it was let down by Before the Flood. Girl Who died/Woman Who Lived = pointless character piece that only serves as contribution to the piss poor series arc which didn't go anywhere anyway.
Zygon 2 parter was ok, but it was clearly pushing some sort of agenda and the second part was essentially a long drawn out conversation with no payoff.
Sleep no more, the less said about that the better.
Face the raven was decent, but it was ruined by episode 12.

Series 9 was worse than Series 2 and 6.
The Doctor is a completely different character to his last series and Clara is just abysmal in every way possible.

>The 12th Doctor, who was supposed to be super alien and distant from people seems to have this bizarre infatuation with Clara and just Clara despite her being the most unlikable, jealous know-it-all on the planet.

That's really more descriptive of Rose since Clara has never really been jealous. Calling her a liar would be more accurate.
>>
>>63750341
>complains that series 9 is depressing & bleak
>preferred an ending where a character dies for a horribly contrived plot purpose

Your opinion of the series seems completely coloured by your dislike of the companion. It's impossible to take seriously. And since when was Clara jealous? If that character trait bothers you so much it should be 12 you have a problem with, but your irrational bias seems to have taken over your ability to objectively judge things.
>>
>>63750680
What exactly do you think the 12th Doctor hates about people?

I don't think he hates people at all, he's just impatient, and he had an issue with soldiers because he projected his own issues with being one on them and hated being reminded of it.

It's not an irrational bias. Clara was in peril essentially every episode this series and The Doctor was focused on saving her and her only. He didn't care about the lives of anyone else, and even if he did it's because "Clara Oswald got inside my head". It just makes the Doctor completely unlikable.
If they're trying to make him unlikable, fine, but allow us to at least relate to or like the companion instead. There was nothing relatable or likable about Clara, apart from maybe her arse.
She became the ultimate Mary Sue, too special and too much like the Doctor who became obsessed with her. 12 and Clara were a god-awful pairing with a poisonous relationship that massively detracted from the storytelling. I hated them both throughout series 9.
And i thought Clara's seven hundredth departure in Face the Raven was very fitting and heroic - it made me like her. But that was tarnished too and now she's got her own tardis.

At least the doctor has forgotten her. I just wish i could too.
>>
>>63750341
>bleak and depressing.
What's with this meme. With the exception of the shit Before the Flood and Sleep No More I seem to remember them all ending on fairly uplifting and optimistic notes.
>Doctor finds it in himself to show mercy to a young Davros
>Ashildr regains her sense of morality
>Doctor persuades Bonnie to put a stop to suffering
>Clara faces death courageously
>Doctor overcomes an unimaginable existential torture to kick the Time Lords' arses and save his friend
>Doctor and Clara respectfully part ways, neither of them are emotionally traumatised in the process
The no fun thing is bullshit as well. Just because they crank up the seriousness a bit suddenly it's set off all these manchildren to then ignore the copious amounts of levity and nonsense.

I bring up the endings because, as endings often do, they sum up the themes and overall message/meaning of the piece, the main tonal thrust. The show presents a universe in which terribly sad things happen, but there is a reason to be happy and keep fighting, and beautiful things will emerge as a result.

>Also, Doctor Who fails when it's trying to be serious.

>Look Hell Bent's ending is as if Amy completely forgot Rory and they parted ways with him staying on Earth and Amy travelling with the Doctor.

I'm really not sure how you arrived at that conclusion...Hell Bent's ending isn't even as sad as that, it sucks for the Doctor - not nearly as much as it would suck for Clara to have her memory wiped, mind you - but by the end (when he sees the picture) he understands it was Clara in the diner. She even leaves him with an encouraging message. And both of them end up flying off for more travels.

Amy forgetting Rory and fucking off in the TARDIS would be upsetting because of how ridiculously one-sided it would be (pretty much the final insult for poor Rory), and how it would invalidate all the development of the love bond between them.
In contrast, the decision of the Doctor and Clara for one of them to forget the other is the culmination of them both realising their addiction to each other's company has become too destructive.

Please no. Sleep paralysis victims suffer enough without Moffat picking on them.

It would be GOAT though depending on how you translated it into Doctor Who terms. The obvious way would be "Oh it's a physical monster that sits in the corner of your room and paralyses your body with some telepathic bullshit" but it might be more horrifying to have it as a mental phenomenon (think like MotOE when only the victim could see the monster)
>>
>>63751009
The Doctor has often been more concerned with saving his friends ultimately while still trying to help those he can. The 4th Doctor wasn't any more willing to let Sarah Jane get shot just to save some random guys on a base. His companions get priority. It wouldn't be believable to me at all if the Doctor didn't care for his personal friends a bit more than people he doesn't know. He's not a god totally 'above' having a personal attachment for those he makes his friends.

12 did care about others' lives. He saves the people in the underwater base that he can, he sticks around to help the Vikings, he stays to stop Ashildr from killing people & putting the earth in danger with her plot to get off the planet, he's focused on averting a war in the Zygon two parter in order to save lives (him saying that he learned to choose not to 'push the button' from Clara in Day of the Doctor doesn't diminish that at all, he was still out to save lives even when he thought she was dead), and he's out to stop the sandmen despite him and Clara being put in danger.

The story they were telling in S9 is that he had become so personally attached to Clara (who's been his companion for a long time and gone through extremely important events with him like the saving of Gallifrey and his post Trenzalore and regeneration trauma & difficulties, so his attachment is understandable), that her death followed by his subsequent 4.5 billion years of torture (that his own people inflicted) drove him to a point where he was willing to go too far to save her. That's what the hybrid prophecy and arc was about.

And I found plenty of things relatable and likeable about Clara. She's determined, manipulative, compassionate, stubborn, a liar, wants to be like the Doctor, started out meek & afraid, learned to bluff her way out of scary situations like the Doctor does. Not to mention character don't always have to be 'OMG soo relatable'. I love Donna but don't find her relatable at all personally.

>Give Gatiss his adderall
>Have Harness take screenwriting 101
>Bring based Cross back
>Have Moffat write episode 11, but someone else to finish the finale, and let based Capaldi direct it

Rose
>Was briefly an omnipotent god-like being.
>Stuck in a parallel universe where her Dad runs Torchwood
>Has a literal clone of the Doctor as her Boyfriend
>Given coral by the Doctor to literally grow her own TARDIS.

Martha
>Medical Doctor
>Family almost died because of the Master
>Massive crush on the Doctor
>Married to Micky (Bravo RTD)

Donna
>Was a pseudo-Time Lady
>Mindwiped and reverted to an annoying bitch.

Amy and Rory
>Knew the least about the Doctor and his people.
>Managed to retroactively create River "Mary Sue" Song
>Died needlessly in the past because Moffat

Clara
>The Impossible Girl
>Universe revolves around her
>Has a pussywhpped Doctor do as she says
>Soldier Boyfriend is dead
>Has the Doctor fixated on her to the point of literal obsession.
>Is technically rendered immortal via temporal stasis.
>Can't die or the Universe will implode
>Gains her own TARDIS
>Can technically live forever before she gets bored.

That was the Doctor's nickname for her. All it means she jumped in the Doctor's wibbly wobbly timey streamy and made a bunch of copies of herself that kicked Richard E Grant in the shins.

>>Universe revolves around her
What?

>>Has a pussywhipped Doctor do as she says
I feel like the whole Clara is the boss thing is greatly overstated. Sometimes he does what she wants, like let her choose when she wants to travel with him. Whoopty do, so much power. He literally did the same thing with Amy & Rory in Series 7A. Other times he leaves her on the moon and then he teaches her a lesson in pragmatism the next time they hang out again. Lots of times he just does whatever he wants as usual while she tags along.

>May or may not be retconned into a Time Lady to justify her using a TARDIS
Now you're just inventing things to get mad about.

I agree she got a fanfiction ending though. But personally I prefer Clara's fanfiction ending of unlimited space & time travel to Rose's getting to fuck a guy who looks like the Tenth Doctah now! Rose's is just boring. No matter how attractive Tennant is the sex would still get old. But on the upside Rose gets to have a reunited family like she always wanted [what was even the point of Father's Day if her dad can just be replaced] and a Doctor clone to fuck and have babies with like she always wanted. What is her downside? Clara still had to pay the price of the Doctor forgetting their entire friendship and will eventually have to go die an agonising death no matter how long she avoids it.

Donna hands down got the shittiest ending. It's practically a death. It's made even worse by the fact that Rose gets everything she wants in the same damn episode.

I miss OG 12.

He was originally supposed to be the most withdrawn or "alien" of the Doctors as someone else stated.

Instead, Clara slowly turned him into something reminiscent of 10 and 11. I don't have a problem with happy and excited 12, but I would've preferred the former.

A Doctor that's the polar opposite of 9, 10 and 11 would be very interesting to see. Still the good guy, but more apathetic, more reserved, and more withdrawn.

I also like his original outfit and its "Aristocratic" look - it would've reinforced the concept.

No offense to them, but I felt that 9 10 and 11 were all the same character.

Always looking on the positive and excessively energetic. It feels weird, as every regeneration is the perfect chance to create a completely new character.

Or is it just that most people want wacky funny adventures all the time?

>Ashildr regains her sense of morality
Which she kind of loses by FtR/HB, but okay
>Clara faces death courageously
the first time round sure, but thanks to
>Doctor overcomes an unimaginable existential torture to kick the Time Lords' arses and save his friend
She can just pussy out for infinity years until she decides she's done (Though to be fair, her death was pretty fucking good senpai)
>Doctor and Clara respectfully part ways, neither of them are emotionally traumatised in the process
Okay, being hypocritical now, but I honestly feel that's kind of a bad thing. Leaving The Doctor and the TARDIS should be a bummer. All other companions have given up that life in some way, either because it was time to move on, or something bad happened, or unfortunately, they were just kind of lost, but either way it shows sacrifice on someone's part. Clara has sacrificed nothing, she hasn't really moved on at all, and yeah, she eventually has to die, but she is effectively immortal until then. She's not returned to a normal life, she essentially hasn't lost anything, aside from the fact that The Doctor doesn't remember her. Sad, sure, but the scene with her and Ash in the Diner TARDIS seems to imply she felt fine fairly quick. Compare that to when 10 forced Donna to forget him, and he was just fucking broken at the end of it. Someone there lost. Companions leaving is always meant to be kind of sad to some degree, so this just felt wrong
