ITT We fix the prequels

Episode I:
>Starts in a similar way
>only difference is that Qui-Gon plays the wise, orthodox master while Obi-Wan is the slightly edgy apprentice instead of the other way around
>Jar Jar stays but gets far less screen time after the submarine trip
>Anakin is about 14 instead of 9, same age as Padme, removing the annoying little kid factor
>Most of Tatooine progresses the same until the Darth Maul fight
>fight is dragged out more and ends with Qui-Gon being killed by Maul, Maul escapes, Sheev recalls him to go to Naboo and make sure that things go off without a hitch
>Obi-Wan decides to train Anakin without asking the council, eager to get revenge on Maul
>Obi-Wan stays on Tatooine to train Anakin while the rest of the entourage leaves for the Coruscant scenes because he knows the council would flip a shit on him if they knew what he was doing
>We see the beginning of Anakin's training under a slightly clumsy master who is still technically an apprentice himself, Anakin's a natural and learns fast though
>They get communications from Naboo that the Queen and Gungans are preparing for a final battle, Obi-Wan feels the Sith will be there and they take off
>most of this scene goes similarly except the space action is cut out as Anakin is now on the ground and it was superfluous anyways
>palace attack and gungan field battle go the same, except now Padme forces the space chink to turn off his army instead of bothering to destroy a droid control ship
>duel of the fates goes similarly, except at the end it's Obi-Wan behind the shield
>Maul injures him, starts taunting him, playing with him, about to execute him when the shields go back down
>Anakin chimps out on him and breaks his saber initially, Maul begins to fight back and Anakin is put on the back foot, Maul taunts him
>Obi-Wan sneak attacks Maul and kills him
>ending scene is similar, council is pissed at Obi-Wan for breaking a billion Jedi rules but accepts him training Anakin
>>
Little weird, but would watch, even if Qui Gon is useless.
>>

The key is making Anakin the main character, the movies are supposed to be about him, yet in the movie that introduces him he's just a little kid who doesn't really understand and making Obi-Wan less of an annoying little nerdy bitch. It made no sense to have the wise, wizardly character be the renegade while the young apprentice sucked Jedi council cock all day.

I don't think this is that important to be honest, it should just be made clearer in the opening scrawl that Jedi are keepers of the peace and it's their job to mediate disputes. Who or what the trade federation is is ultimately irrelevant, they're a catalyst for a greater conflict. Sheev could reveal a little more background information when he talks with the space gooks though, I agree.

>>63744983
>>63745001

Maul was a pawn, he had no higher purpose than to sell toys and look evil. I think his character is good for reintroducing the evil of the Sith, but not for building it.

Dooku and what he does for the separatist movement through his charisma is also plot critical to the second movie, I think Episode II's overarching plot is actually good but the fact that it was centered on characters and that cringe inducing romance made it the worst movie in history.

Second movie, I'd get rid of the fucking naboo and tatooine shit entirely and have Anakin and Padme go on an adventure instead to figure out who's trying to kill her as Obi-Wan does his own investigation. Maybe have Maul kill Shimi in the first movie to give Anakin more of a reason to chimp out on him later on and tie up that loose end. Then when Obi-Wan gets captured, they go to save him and the plotline proceeds as normal.

I'd also make sure that the whole Sifo-Dyas thing was better explained, that was one of the worst plot holes of the prequels. Maybe he leaves a hologram with the Kaminoans talking about how the Dark Side is strong in the galaxy so he ordered an army because he saw the Republic would need it. Where he got the money to do this can remain unexplained (it was from the Sith, but this shouldn't be revealed until the third movie obviously).

I'd take out the Yoda chimpout too, that scene was abysmal fanwankery. Fucking green ninja shit.

Yes, but a different kind of pawn. Maul was a weapon, Dooku was an orator. Maul inspired fear, Dooku inspired treason. Maul represented mindless obedience while Dooku was all about rebellion.

Could you imagine Maul getting all of the space chinks in line, standing in the arena booth? Could someone who is obviously a fucking baby raping Sith edgelord covered in fucking tattoos that look like death actually inspire people to follow him?
>>
I watched this prequel "lost script" vid taht turned out to be fanfare. It was ok except the opening scene of qui-gon getting pinned down to tatooine in his fighter after some mission in the very beggining. I thought the idea of him somehow deflecting a droid fighter's shot as he just runs out of options would have been really cool
>>
>>63744367
>>only difference is that Qui-Gon plays the wise, orthodox master while Obi-Wan is the slightly edgy apprentice instead of the other way around

but obi wan was yodas apprentice
>>
Fuck no, those movies are not salvageable.

Set it during the Clone Wars with Obi-Wan and Anakin having a big brother / little brother relationship as opposed to the stern dad / petulant whiny teenager relationship. You can make them similar to the Han / Luke dynamic and Anakin's fall to the darkside is the reason Obi-Wan gets so serious and becomes more pious and is hard on Han in ANH, he sees himself in Han and holds his carefree wiseass attitude as responsible for his younger friend falling to the darkside. The movie is about them flying through the galaxy kicking ass and having crazy adventures, pretty much all the shit Obi-Wan was alluding to in ANH in the "He was a good friend" scene.

The Clone Wars are a light hearted romantic "chivalrous" adventure the way the crusades or whatever was depicted in the Middle Ages. The film is lighter and more fantasy-heavy in tone, it was the romantic time before the Empire took over. Like the tone of The Hobbit books as opposed to LotR.
>>
Keep Darth Maul.
Have him kill Anakin's mother
Make Darth Maul the Recurring villain throughout the trilogy
Anakin trains under obi wan with the hopes of getting revenge
Maul kills padme
Kids are born earlier so Leia is maybe 3-4 so that one throwaway line of dialogue in ROTJ has meaning.
Sheev gives anakin Darth maul unarmed to execute.
anakin executes him
Obi wan learns of this and forces Anakin's children into hiding.
Anakin and Obi Wan duel the same way.

Also Keep Grevious just for Obi Wan's arc.

Lucas should have sticked with his original idea from the 80'

>evil clone army wrecking the galaxy
>jedies are neutral because justice and balans
>anakin and obi wan volontire to fight against the clones
>war wrecks the republic and empire kills jedies for not fighting the clones

alternativle, he should have just copy berserik with anakin beeing grifit

tbnh if obi wan had been a more central character and aniken and jarjar cut down a little more it would have been an ok movie

Fixing the prequels.

Episode 1:
>Obi-wan and Qui-Gon investigate corruption between parts of the senate a trade federation.
>uncover assassination plot to end the monarchy in naboo.
>also qui-gon searches for information of a miraculous birth on the planet of naboo that tells of the prophecy.
>they're given a pilot to transport them around the planet to further investigate, pilot is named anakin skywalker.
>no gungans
>darth maul acts as the hand of darth sidious which devises a plan to succeed the throne once padme is killed.
>shit goes on. darth maul kills qui-gon but entire operation is exposed and flees naboo.
>padme resigns as elected monarchy and gives power to palpatine to influence the senate later.
>it's hinted that anakin is the miraculous birth of prophecy on naboo and sheev had a hand in it.

Episode 2:
>clone wars
>droid army led by darth maul
>more than one clone template: no jango fett, FIVE mandalorians instead.
>The Five template for the clones tries to stage a coup de tat by the influence of darth sidious.
>free kamino from trade federation, darth maul, and the five boba fetts
>palpatine elected supreme chancellor and given free control over clone army.

Episode 3:
>clone wars kicks off into full gear from 1-100 real fast
>anakin and padme romance story just to cement luke and leia
>padme dies at child birth dream plot
>sheev corrupts anakin
>anakin succumbs due to stress from clone wars and paranoia
>anakin kills darth maul
>takes maul place as sheev new apprentice
>order 66. jedi purge. Yoda goes into exile.
>boba fett is hired to kill the FIVE mandalorians and absorbs their armor.
>anakin versus obi-wan
>padme dies giving birth whatever rehashing revenge of the sith
>anakin BTFO and becomes darth vader
>A FITTING END FOR SUCH A SHIT TRILOGY
>>
>>63745849
>no jango fet
fuck you
>>
>>63744740
I actually like the idea of Obi-Wan being a bit of a naive suckup.

If I were to write it, I'd take a page from Lucas' book (when he based ANH on The Hidden Fortress) and base EP1 on Seven Samurai.

In this vein, Yoda becomes Kambei, Qui-Gon becomes a mixture of Heihachi and Kyuzo, and Anakin becomes Kikuchiyo.

>Yoda is the wise, philosophical leader of the rag-tag Jedi
>Qui-Gon is at once the heart and soul of the team, while also being the master swordsman.
>Obi-Wan is now the green, eager, by-the-book young apprentice (to Yoda) with a clear back story of wealth.
>Anakin is the moody orphan who clearly has the most genuinely good heart of the group, but is shows signs of the impulsiveness and petulance that will ultimately be his undoing.

As to plot?

>The poor, mid-rim world of Naboo finds itself under attack from the Trade Federation.
>Qui-Gon, on a mission to investigate the blockade, warns the queen of the impending attack.
>At the suggestion of Senator Palpatine, Padme and a small team go out on a desperate mission to Coruscant in the hopes of freeing their world.
>A chance encounter brings them in contact with Yoda and Obi-Wan, who agree to help. In the process, they recruit Qui-Gon and Mace Windu, two of the best swordsmen in the order.
>Their ship is sabotaged and they end up on Tatooine for repairs, where by chance they encounter Master Yoda and his apprentice Obi-Wan, on a mission to rescue a captive from the Hutts.
>They also encounter Anakin, a young hotshot pilot in his late teens, living with his mother indentured to Watto, flying smuggling runs for the Hutts and racing pods for his master.
>The rest of the Tatooine segment goes much the same as it has gone before, except a Han/Leia sexual tension begins to brew between Anakin and Padme. Qui-Gon also takes a liking to Anakin, beginning to train him as Obi-Wan trained Luke in ANH.

Step one: don't wait 16 years to do them, ten years is more than enough time

Step 2: hire your pal Steven Spielberg to direct

Step 3: this is a minor one, Sheev isn't Richard Nixon . Make the empire already existing and is taking over the Galaxy

Samefag here, continuing

>They make it to Coruscant, with Qui-Gon informally instructing Anakin, but are denied assistance by the Senate. The Jedi council denies Qui-Gon the opportunity to train Anakin, as he is too old, but Qui-Gon has become a father figure and continues to train him informally.
>Anakin also begins to form a brotherly bond with Obi-Wan, despite their different personalities and backgrounds. Think Luke/Han in the OT.
>They return to Naboo, and Yoda, with Qui-Gon and Windu, put together a plan to drive the Trade Federation out of the capitol.
>Padme, Yoda, Obi-Wan and the guard will take the capitol while the gungans/someone else start their battle as a diversion, led by Windu.
>Anakin will fly the other Qui-Gon into the (relatively unguarded) droid control ship in an attempt to disable the army. In the confusion getting to their ship, Obi-Wan is separated from Yoda and ends up on his way to the droid control ship.
>They discover the sith are behind the attack (third act twist!) and a lightsaber battle ensues in the bowels of the droid control ship. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan attempt to fight off Darth Maul while Anakin frantically sets the charges to destroy the ship.
>The battle on the ground rages, Padme/Yoda make progress, while things go less well for Windu and his detachment.
>Maul attacks Anakin, leaving him hanging from a ledge, and is about to finish him off when Qui-Gon fights him away, but is mortally wounded in the process. Obi-Wan hangs in there but is obviously in over his head. Just as he is about to be killed, Anakin's rage gets the best of him as he force-jumps up from the ledge, with Qui-Gon's lightsaber flying into his hand. He proceeds, with crazed, disjointed, hacking technique (think Luke in ROTJ right before he cuts Vader's hand off), to brutally push Maul back, and he and Obi-Wan are able to finally wound Maul and drive him off.
>Anakins charges go off, as he and Obi-Wan drag a dying Qui-Gon to their ship.

>TBC

>>63746631
Samefag again, finishing it all up

>They fly back to Naboo, with Jinn's las words being to make Obi-Wan promise to see to it that Anakin is trained.
>The ground battle is won, however Mace Windu has been killed, and the Trade Federation has now declared all out war on the Republic.
>The Trade Federation commander is lead away as Palpatine and the politicians come to capitalize on the new developments at Naboo.
>The Jedi council at the funeral pyres of Mace Windu and Qui-Gon Jinn, reflecting on their losses. Obi-Wan is now a master, and Anakin is his new apprentice, but they reflect on the heavy toll that the Jedi have paid for someone else's victory. Yoda reflects on the pyres and the Jedi who are sure to be lost in the coming war and says "Again, we have lost" or something to that end.
>Naboo has their celebration parade, but it's a bit of a hollow victory, as war now looms on the horizon. Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin receive medals from Queen Padme for their bravery, and Padme has a "you just know" moment with Anakin.
>Naboo celebrates
>Credits
>>
Qui-gon is played by christopher lee. Instead of being obi-wan's official master, hes a component but disgraced elder. His fall was a result of him displaying emotions, period. He is sent to mediate the trade delegation dispute with obi-wan (naive rising star, etc) as his monitor. This is qui-gon's only chance to avoid summary execution to prevent him turning to the dark side. Everything progresses basically the same, obi-wan questioning qui-gon's methods at basically every step (lee is jovial through all this), but having no choice but to go along for lack of any other options, as a result obi-wan is forced to face the hypocrisy of an order that views any emotion as dangerous.

In the duel with maul, qui-gon and obi-wan are never separated, but maul outclasses them both completely until qui-gon starts breaking from pure "light side" tactics, duel ends with qui-gon sacrificing himself to create an opening for obi-wan. Obi-wan sees it, exploits it instinctively/robotically, Qui-gon is killed instantly, there are no emotional death speeches, obi-wan is mostly just confused/conflicted by the entire situation, with two dead (completely dead) force users at his feet. He attempts to shake off his experiences, tells the council the complete truth of what happened, council believes him, but has to put him on the same status as qui-gon was, because darkside. His probationary test is to train anakin. Anakin shows any sort of dark side behavior, both are executed.

probationary tests are always something that would be extremely emotionally taxing, rock and hard place situations that are all but impossible to clear without emotional display. Eventually obi-wan realizes this, sees its fucked, and breaks with the jedi order during the clone wars to fight.

Basically just remove lucas' hardset autism about emotions being bad and allow the jedi order to be questioned somewhat, by someone that isn't certifiably retarded.
>>
I can't wait to see these ideas in the prequel remakes.
>>
>was expecting the clone wars to be this super dark and fucked up war that went on for ages
>instead get essentially another robot army and a "war" thats over almost instantly
>even the fucking JEDI use clones like what the fuck are you fucking kidding me? the jedi who supposedly respect life are okay with throwing disposable clones into the grinder?
>doesnt touch on moral implications at all. doesnt raise any kind of problems or questions

The stuff in timothy zhan's trilogy with the messed up clone of luke was a lot more in line with how I had envisioned the clone wars.
