It would have overshadowed the new cast to do blatant masturbatory fan service like that for the original cast. It sucks they won't have a reunion but I honestly think they did the right thing by not trying to make the original cast all main characters in this one. Han was pretty much as important as he's ever been in TFA, Leia was just a general with importance to the plot but not a focus, and Luke was a plot device without needing to be in the spotlight.
