He got rich as fuck, had a couple roles in big films after Star Wars, then retired to do voice acting and occasional cameos when begged.

He's now fit enough to be the live action Joker.
An ideal scenario would be Leto's Joker is one of the Robin's who got tortured and driven insane by the real Joker, taking on the persona himself when Batman kills old Joker.
DC movies set in the current timeline would feature Leto, while the solo Batman films would be prequels and feature Hamill, set 10+ years ago when Bats was at his peak. All Affleck would need to do to look younger is dye his hair to get rid of any grey and go clean-shaven.
