>/tv/ will prefer the prequel trilogy over the sequel trilogy just for the sake of seeming cultured
I'm calling it now.

>just for the sake of seeming cultured
You can't read my mind. And "contrarian" is the word you're looking for. If I wanted people to think I was cultured why the fuck would I make my opinions on Star Wars known?
Also George Lucas is a legitimate artist in the industry while JJ Abrams is an obedient worker who churns out products for his bosses and those products happen to be movies.

This guy right here won the internet.
Given a choice between bland and safe or hilarious trainwreck, sure I'll choose hilarious trainwreck.
\>>63704608
It's already starting.
RotS is actually good
Or I can just prefer the original trilogy since it's the only good one
>>63704619
Hate this meme. Worst than people saying Jango Fett was a good character.
>>63704641
Revenge of the Sith has some pretty cool stuff going on though. It's the movie that gave us Sheev Sheeving out, Order 66 (Ki-Adi Mundi's death scene is particularly strong), Obi-Wan leaving Anakin in the volcano and some more general goofy shit that's fun if you don't take it seriously ("well hello there!"). They're family movies, if you want real science-fiction go read the big three or something. Lucas wants to entertain you and push the limits of filmmaking effects.

>this retard will pretend he likes RotS (a shitty movie) and pretend he hates TFA (a good movie)
film culture is dead
>>63704741
Name your favourite kino, whitebread.
>>63704770
Not Sebastiane because it's reddit garbage.
The Forgotten One and Paulie
>>63704820
Damn son, those are some bold implications. Would you be willing to repeat them to the Coca Cola Fish?
>>63704837
Sorry I don't keep up with /tv/ memes because I'm not a redditor.
>>63704871
Who said anything about memes?
>>63704582
>JJ Abrams is an obedient worker who churns out products for his bosses and those products happen to be movies.
Aw, go easy on him. It must be hard being a guy born with literally no imagination.
>>63704545
It'll be how to spot the redditors, that's for sure
They're already posting shit like
>well you know if it had nothing to do with star wars people would have liked them a lot more
I mean Holy shit

He should have become a mathematician, he could perform efficient, soulless busywork for a good living without destroying the world's culture at the same time. And the hollywood blockbuster really is as close as we can get to a global piece of media. He's created something that's going to reach more people than any other filmmaker in history, and what did he make? From the sounds of it an ersatz clone of a true piece of art that became well known because in its time it was a bold experiment.
>>63705085
Ron Perlman
>>63705085
Mickey Rourke
>>63705116
Ehhhhhh...
>>63705155
James Caan?
>>63705163
Ganondorf is in his like mid 30ths
No Arabic actors?
>>63705189
>no arabic actors
no, none. If James Earl Jones could play an evil wizard James Caan can do it too. Throw a wig on the man and you've got anything you want. Caan's the man.
>>63705189
maybe that guy from Tyrant then, since you mention Arabic actors. Ashraf Barhom I think
The prequels will probably end up being more memorable. At least Lucas actually tried.
>>63705352
This is how I see the gist of it. Lucas will always make something memorable even with a poorer effort because he's a passionate creator. No matter how much money they have Disney can't synthesize that. The marketing will generate hype and draw in crowds but hype didn't carry A New Hope, A New Hope had lasting appeal because it captured people's hearts and imaginations. Can you imagine anybody being moved by something created by JJ Abrams and Disney?
>>63705352
>>63705399
fucking idiots
>>63705399
Disney yes
JJ has always been mediocre at best and hamfisted and vapid at worst
>>63705021
>"ersatz clone"
>not calling it a glib fascimile
That's kind of an uninspiring renewal desu.
