I have only now watched the original trylogy, Harmy's despecialised edition, since I've never seen them before. After that I rewatched the prequels to not let my old memories elude me.
My conclusion is
5 > 3 > 6 > 4 > 2 > 1
It may be just me being an edgefag, but I really loved Revenge of the Sith and think people are projecting other prequels' faults onto it. Or just forgetting that a lot of critisism that applies to it also applies to the original trilogy.
ITT Discuss which SW movies you like the most and why
how old are you

22. Never really been tempted to watch the original trilogy before because I'm not big into SF and even knowing it's just fantasy in space, I still kinda put it away for later.

Even ignoring your opinions on the prequels
>6 > 4
That's just bad b8
>>63686630
>final confrontation with Vader
>The Emperor in general
>Jabba the Hutt
>not hype as fuck
Ewoks were stupid as shit, but I'll take that over Darth Vader and Stormtroppers looking at tiny video screens trying to shoot rebels down any day. Also the Jedi are really not touched on in 4. Like, at all. Luke gets the saber to pretty much never use it.
So ive never actually sat down to watch the star wars movies before. I mean ive seen parts of the original trilogy and saw the new trilogy when they came out but honestly didnt know wtf is going on.
Im considering changing that. Should I watch them in release or chronological order? if i like them, what would you suggest i watch/read/play next in the series?go easy on me ive never lurked on/tv/ before

Release order is always the way to go with stuff like this. As mentioned in the OP, there's a fan-made despecialised edition that was pretty much made by a guy traveling the land and assembling the original theatrical releases, scene by scene, free of all the CG bullshit from DVD and BD releases.
6>5>4>7(prediction)>3>2>1
Ewoks don't matter to me, the impressive space battle, all the luke and vader scenes, and the throne room scene make it. The father son stuff was GOAT

>The father son stuff was GOAT
And people still call 4 better for some reason.
>>63686630
Nah, 4 was pretty much garbage. It's only praised because it originated everything. The writing, acting, sets, effects, literally everything is better in 6.
Anything in the Extended Universe worth checking out? I played most of the vidya games, but I heard it's pretty huge. Don't care if they're not canon because Disney are too chicken to make a Jedi Knight movie trilogy.
