Fucking Americans, First time I saw clapping in theaters was in The Dark Knight Returns during the National Anthem scene.

Another time was when Captain America said There's only one God maam!

Also when Django was killing Whites left and right

And finally I noticed that White people also clap while watching videogames.

FUCKING AMERICANS WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? WHY DO YOU ALWAYS CLAP?

>Theater is packed, I find this weird because the film had been out for two months by this point
>We sit somewhere in the back, giggling as the front rows fill with overweight people barely able to fit in their seats and a few in fat people scooters
>The film starts, things go relatively well until we get to that scene
>The theater gets suspiciously quiet, I don't know what's about to happen but I can sense something coming
>"They're basically gods", the pilot says
>Our theater's audience is waiting with baited tuna breath
>Captain America appears
>"There's only one god, ma'am..."
>Already a few people start hooting and hollering
>"...and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."
>Uproariously, the theater breaks out into applause and cheering. There are women weeping and men saluting, children dancing in the aisles.
>Some douchebag wearing a fedora takes out a guitar, and begins to strum it along to the tune of "God Bless the USA"
>The entire theater joins in unison, acting like it's Whoville at Christmas, waving flags and holding hands
>The projector suddenly stops the film, and a few minutes later, some old patriotic film begins to play. It was one of those old sing-along reels, this one with the National Anthem
>I suddenly realize, it's 4 July
>We're trapped, in the back, no way to escape as they sing all the verses of the National Anthem for 9 minutes and 11 seconds
>Some kid begins to shoot off fireworks in the middle of the theater and destroy the sprinklers

I've never clapped at a normal screening. You only clap at live theater or if you're at a screening and the filmmakers are present, I did that once. Otherwise, you're clapping for some stoner fag who's getting minimum wage to run a projector.

>>
>>63688290
What's the first thing you do when you finish watching a movie with friends? You talk about the movie, whether you thought it was a good one or a bad one, etc.

That's what clapping is for. You are communicating with the rest of the audience that you enjoyed the movie. You're not clapping for the people in the movie or the projector guy, fuck this meme is so stupid. Mainly because 4chan is full of autists that can't understand basic human functions.

Clapping can signify more than just admiration. Blew your mind didn't I.

>>
>>63686180

Despite it being a meme, the only times I've seen this happen in America, growing up here and frequently going to see movies for three decades, was when it was a really hyped thing, like SW, and people in the audience were feeding off each other's excitement.

The only exception was when I saw "The Fighter", and a couple old ladies sat right in front of me and cheered during all the fight scenes, as though they actually thought they were witnessing a real boxing match.

STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE
>>
>>63686180

As an American it only happens on premiers to capeshit and the like.

My only true experience was when I saw The Dark Knight at it's launch night at like 12:00 and there were people dressed in costumes and shit plus it was sold out.

Nobody does that shit beyond opening night for "fans". Most people beyond the first few nights just quickly leave like normal after taking a piss and taking a quick 5 minute break in the after-hours showers.

You don't even need the penis inspection in there. It's just a rinse and there's no charge for your falcon either.
>>
>>63685652
If you clap/cheer in the theater, you're a douche.
>>
When I went to the midnight screening of the last Harry Potter move, there were people in costume trying to get everyone to sing some dumb shit. It was embarrassing, I felt really bad for them.
>>
>>63695153

>You should be a stoic observer of film and not have any audible reaction what-so-ever in the theater.

Man. What a boring world this would be if you people were in charge.
>>
>>63695299
It's fucking stupid.

What are they clapping at? I understand clapping at the end of a live performance however.

And if they do it to show appreciation, why do they walk out as the credits start rolling? The only reason any Ameritards stay behind is in case the director adds some shit post-credits.
