I haven't heard of half of these people.
Also, I just realized that I thought No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood were the same movie.
God, I'm retarded.
>>63682104
Well that reminds me I might add the Coens to my list. There's so many great directors, it's tough. Jonathan Glazer too, Spike Jonze and Kaufman...
>>63681691

Carpenter, The Coens, Lynch, Cronenberg, Wilder, Aldrich, Dante, Scorcese, Hitchcock, Mann, Fincher, Verhoeven, Kurosawa, Raimi, Welles and PTA.

>Jonathan Glazer
I hated Under the Skin so I'm not going to even bother with the rest of his filmography.
>Spike Jonze
I really liked Her and Where The Wild Things Are was great, maybe I should look more into his movies.
>Kaufman
Does he count? He's only directed two movies.
I also want to look more into John Woo (based off The Killer), Wong Kar-wai (based off Fallen Angels) and Scorsese (based off Taxi Driver).
I'm kind of torn when it comes to Tarantino, Django and Pulp Fiction were great, but Kill Bill and Jackie Brown bored me.
And while Stanley Kubrick definitely isn't one of my favorites, I find him really inspiring for some reason.
Kubrick
Hitchcock
Fellini
Bergman
Verhoeven
>>63682277
>Fun fact: no country for old men had to stop shooting at one point because there will be blood was blowing shit up nearby
I don't know what to do with that information, but I'm glad I now know it.
I feel less guilty about my confusion. Especially because they both came out the same year.
>>63682547
Jodorowsky too.
>>63682495

OP here, forgot to mention I like Guillermo del Toro too.
I don't know if I love him, but Pacific Rim and Hellboy 2 were great. I missed Crimson Peak.
I think Legendary is actually my favorite production company.
>>63682595
I'll watch them then.
I've been meaning to get to Synecdoche and as an animation fan, Anomalisa should be interesting.
Is your favorite movie by your favorite director?
Mine isn't.
João César Monteiro
Béla Tarr
Ozu
Pedro Costa
Wang Bing
>Can't actually discuss film because of Meme Wars
Hiro should just make a Star Wars board.
Tarkovsky, Malick, and maybe Dreyer are my favorites. I can't really think of anyone besides those three. I like Kiarostami but none of his films are in my top 20.
>>63683290

My man
>>63686716
My favorite one is also 'The Child'. The worst one is probably 'Lorna's Silence'.
>>63686217
How about you name your favourite directors, state some arguments about why you like them, and come with some actuall arguments as to why you don't enjoy the directors mentioned in this thread instead of just being a condescending asshole who just blindly elovates his own subjective oppinions above everyone else's.
That would actually lead to some real discussion for once.
>>63686833
it's the only one i haven't seen, is it bad or is it just not as good as the others lol?
>>63681691
hmm
How do you guys watch most of these directors films?
I normally get them off pb but a lot of their films aren't there
Benedek Fliegauf
František Vláčil is mine
I'm too lazy to do it but imagine my list being composed entirely of names that are either full of accent marks or written in various different foreign graphemes with a few American directors thrown in there to spice things up.
