Cast it.
Not possible to cast the judge
As all characters in a one man off broadway show
the only person capable of playing the judge is john goodman
>>63675468
Have Nicolas Cage or some other shitty actor play all the characters from his bedroom.
>>63675468
What's up with /tv/'s raging boner for this book? It's not even that good; McCarthy is vastly overrated.
inb4:
>muh epic, muh odyssey
>muh overdrawn sentences so ebin so powerful
>muh ultraviolence, so shocking lol
not that it matters anyways, this book is never going to be adapted for film. it's simply too graphic. I mean, when was the last time you saw a film about sodomy, rape, mutilation, scalping, racism and massacre that wasn't a horror film?
Glanton - Michael Shannon
Toadvine - Garret Dillahunt
Tobin - Michael Smiley
no idea who could play the Kid or the Judge
Blood Meridian: The Musical
>>63675492
What if James Gandolfini wasn't dead and did something different with his voice?
If I could resurrect actors:
>Unknown as the Kid.
>Richard Kiel as the Judge
>Philip Seymour Hoffman as Tobin
>Tommy Lee Jones (but younger) as Glanton
>Harry Dean Stanton (but younger) as Toadvine
>>63675684
He's not 7 feet tall, pale and bald everywhere
Dave Franco
>>63675492
Use those Engineers from Prometheus
>>63675597
>muh muh
>>63675492
I'd say Daniel Day Lewis is the only one capable. And it's the exact kind of mystical and eccentric being I'm sure he would love to play.
Christian XXX as the Judge
Billy Bob Thornton as Toadvine
If the Coens are making it then John Goodman as The Judge.
>>63675597
It's only not that good if you have an IQ lower than 100. I bet your favorite book is Harry Potter lol
>>63675492
I kept imagining him as a big fat white Kurt Russel for some reason
>>63676052
bitch pls. I've read more book this year than you have your entire life
The Judge - Glenn Fleshler
It would have to be a bunch of new actors because for this film to be done right it will never make any money and as such will have to be made as cheap as possible.
Glanton
>>63676181
Also, Mel Gibson should direct. He has a shit-hot flair for violence, has god tier pacing in his films and can pull off some pretty spectacular shots.
He has enough money to fund it himself.
>>63676181
>for this film to be done right it will never make any money
Why not? No country is well liked.
>>63676251
It would need to be at least four hours long, mate. The whole point of some parts of the book is that they are intentionally dull to reflect the tedium of travelling through the desert. Not only that, but it would have to have unflinching violence. Smashing two infants heads against a rock so they burst cannot be censored if you want to convey the same emotion (or lack thereof) the book does. No Country is very tame by comparison and has a fairly clear cut hero. BM is nothing but villains. The Kid is morally ambiguous at best.
DiCaprio - Innaritu - Lubezki
>>63675911
maybe a fat daniel day lewis....I could see his acting style meshing really well with Glanton for some reason
Marlon Brando as Judge Holden
>>63675597
you are a fucking retard. a good writer says the most with the least. the first line "see the boy." how the fuck would you start your shit book? huh?
There's only one clear choice for the judge.
John Cena as The Judge
>>63676902
Almost a decent realistic choice
Where are people getting that the judge was fat?
I know it says he was large in stature and very tall, but I don't remember there being something that draws him as particularly fat.
>>63675817
That's exactly how I'm imagining him.
>>63676902
>>63676839
>"See the child."
>not "God how the stars did fall."
>>63677014
Didn't they describe him as weighing around 20 stone (280ish lbs) at some point in the novel?
If he put on some weight, he'd be perfect.
Michael Cera as the Kid.
Haha, just kidding. Actually, I hate sjw's but I think it would be cool to do an all female cast for an adaptation of Blood Meridian.
>>63676902
He might look better without eyebrows but I still pictured the Judge as having a more high browed almost noble looking mutant like face like pic related rather than simply looking like a non-threatening fat Italian baby like D'Onofrio.
>>63677014
The scene with the tarot cards describes him picking things out of his fat folds.
Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson
>>63675492
>he doesnt know about Idris Elba
shiggy diggy niggy.
was the judge supposed to be satan?why was satan in blood meridian?
>>63677123
>>63677158
Ah. Well. Okay then.
>>63677233
War is god, and the judge is one of the angels of war. Hence why he refers toThe Manas a heathen.
>>63675492
RON PEARLMAN
>>63676938
>>63676938
This. This is your answer. But why and how could it work?
The answer is you cast manlets for all other roles. The little boy from the hunger games, basically anyone famous under 5'5". When viewed together they will look normal, but compared to the judge/cena they will look as intended in the book.
>>63677233
The Judge is a Gnostic Archon and a servant of the Demiurge who has been given dominion over the domain of Yaldabaoth. He is basically a demi-God in our world.
>>63675492
Orson Welles would've made a great Judge
>>63675492
Ed Harris or Peter Weller, or even that wheelchair guy from Lost.
>>63677627
Came here to say this
>>63676129
Almost everyone I know who is a self described "reader" spends their time reading hilariously mediocre garbage, like hunger games and asoiaf and shit
>>63676839
>good writer says the most with the least
If you read for the story, yes. But some people like their writer to actually write well.
>>63676902
this is a good choice as well
also Malick, Malick, Malick
he is the only one to direct, IRL Holden, incredible wisdom of the natural world
>>63675597
>It's popular and well liked here, so it's bad. I myself am the true patrician, gentlemen. Gib attenchums?
Kid - Cera, Michael
Judge - Rogen, Seth
Glanton - Franco, James
Toadvine - McBride, Danny
Tobin - Hornsby, David
Captain White - Hardy, Tom
John Carroll Lynch would be the best fit for Judge Holden
>>63677233
the judge is just a personification of chaos.
>>63678245
is this memeing? he's the most brilliant, methodical, orderly thinker in the book.
>>63677048
He's have to buff up and they'd have to use camera angles to make him seem taller
>>63675492
I always thought this but then I had an epiphany.
Arnold Schwarzenneger would be perfect.
He is old, decaying and becoming a carnival sideshow version of his former self so it would take great directing to make him menacing enough.
He has that physically scary presence and sense of evil and decay around him that you just can't fake though.
>>63678513
Misses the point of the judge entirely
The guy who wrote the reacher boks talked about this in an interview once
Jack Reacher in the boks is 6'6" and heavily muscled, Tom Cruise is small and slim
He explained this wasn't an issue at al. HE described Reacher as big and muscular in books to convey a large menacing presence
Cruise was able to convey presence through acting, so while he is opposite of physical description he is perfect for the part on a philosophical level
actor who plays judge doesn't need to be 7 feet tall, he needs to have a presence that is large and oppressive and breaks other people down
>>63678584
>The Judge
>decaying
>>63678007
Kane is literally the perfect judge in terms of looks
David Morse as Judge Holden
>War is God.
What did he mean by this?
>>63677014
I think they say he basically looked like a giant baby. bald, completley hairless, pale, and that chubbyness
Josh Brolin as Glanton
Kane as The Judge
Walter Gogins as Toadvine
Michael Parks as Tobin
unknown as The Kid
>>63679198
That war is the spark that forces action and the crucible that tests character
>>63679014
implying looking like a baby means new and fresh and clean
ever see an elderly geriatric patient before?
>>63675468
This kind of shit doesn't belong on this board you fucking faggot. Take your pseudoart to its containment board.
>>>/lit/
>>63679540
lol
>>63677156
he's literally described as looking like a giant, grotesque infant.
>>63675468
the actor who played Errol Childress in TD. But only if he got ripped and lost his gut. Other than that he has the looks and physicality for the role.
He's fucking huge, pale, and imposing. And while Childress was a moron the scene where he impersonates a british character on TV shows he has a knack for eloquence for the judge's monologue scenes.
>>63680357
>But only if he got ripped and lost his gut.
Ripped? What? The Judge is a fat fuck.
>>63675597
Mate I know art is subjective but this book is undeniably an incredible piece of writing
>>63676217
>Mel Gibson directing Blood Meridian.
An anon can dream..
>>63675492
>>63676751
Seriously the bets choice in the thread. Too bad it'll never happen.
>reading this book right now
>not even sure what I'm supposed to be getting out of it
They're just wandering around the desert while the Judge is the Judge. Also indians and mexicans I guess.
>>63681972
The judge speaks clearly though, not like he's gobbling cocks all the time
>>63678104
>see the child
>>63682016
you shouldnt feel that way after the introduction of the judge, only really early on if at all during the kid's initial wandering
may not be for you senpai(ily)
stick to hitchhikers guide redditor
>>63676839
>a good writer says the most with the least
Tell that to the Russians.
>>63676181
No kikes pls.
>>63675492
>preacher from poltergeist given steroids
>>63675597
Found the non-white
>>63678720
>tom cruise
>intimidating
Yeah no
>>63684734
>thinks he can bruise the cruise
