looks better than the last one.... maybe...
>>
Watched it three times now its getting better with every rewatch

Jew jew Abrams is gone so its only up from here
>>
I can't muster any outrage because I never liked any of the Star Trek movies. Not a single one. No, not even that one.
>>
>>63660117
Kind of like what I see. It's like the entire movie is an away mission. After the last 2 movies were almost entirely on a spaceship excluding 2 minutes to pick up old spock and scotty on an ice planet, this is kind of refreshing.
>>
>>63660210
Yeah at first I was pretty pissed caused it looked like a lame story but then I realized this will work better

Grounding it Ina sense
>>
Dumbest schlock I've seen in a long time. Sure, pretty much all the Trek films in the past couple decades were basically just action films with a thin veneer of Trek polish, but they've never been so egregious about it, now it's just sad how desperately they want the capeshit/Guardians of the Galaxy market. They aren't even trying to pretend there's any semblance to the cerebral, philosophically exploratory aspects of the original series anymore.

The worst part is I have nothing against a plain old "space beat 'em up", but wedging in those pasty unlikable NuTrek actors as the high-intensity action heroes just breeds together the worst of both worlds. If you wanna do kung fu alien-punching run and gun hijinks, cast yourself a Vin Diesel or a Duane Johnson and do it right. Don't slap a Star Trek label on it and make us watch some smarmy twitter-generation millennials do kickflips around a jungle set.
>>
>>63660117

Address the fucking low quality bullshit anons

1. Sabotage

REUSING A FUCKING TRACK FROM THE FIRST FILM

2. Kirk hitting teleporter pad hard right before impact on other local

They did this in the 1st movie with sulu

3. The ship getting town apart

They already did this in into darkness

For real they are just rehashing shit

Be real the trailer was average
>>
>>63660358
Rehashing shit in Star Trek? You don't say.
>>
>>63660355
They're Gen-Xers, only Chris Pine barely hits the upper limit of a millennial.
>>
>>63660355
Guardians at least had good music throughout
>>
>>63660117

I hated the first two Jar Jar Trek movies, this looks like more of the same brainless action schlock.
>>
>>63660117
I'll suck Karl Urbans dick... NOT IN A GAY WAY, just in a his dick rubbing against my tonsils kinda way.

Seriously, that last thing with the teleporter was the only thing I really liked.
>>
>>63660477
Its Justin Lin though

Were in good hands. True detective season 2 was better than 1, the new FF movie was almost as good as Tokyo drift

Well be alright

>>
>>63660117
I've only ever seen The Wrath of khan and jj's 1st Star Trek, and I gotta saw the trailer looked.. Try hard. I can't saw what it was trying hard to be, it it was trying to be like some action movie. Barely any notice of spaceiness or anything other than quipy quiotes
>>
I hate the damn music, like wtf yo?
>>
The trailer looked cool, but I didn't like their choice of song. Not that its the Beastie Boys, just that I don't feel it matches the tone of the series.
>>
>>63660647
"We"?

You are clearly not a genuine Star Trek fan.
>>
>The next Star Trek film will be closer in spirit to the original television show, according to co-writer Simon Pegg.
>“I think we just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show,” revealed Pegg. “And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation. But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment.”

You know what guys I'm excited about this movie desu

Already seems to action-y, but maybe that is just because the trailer is supposed to be for normies. The premise seems better since it actually has them on planets and doing shit. Might just be one long away mission which would be a lot better than the last 2.

Why the fuck are they using this song again though? It was out of place the first time, and it is out of place now.
>>
>>63660117

The most positive thing I can say about that trailer is that it looks like they're doing something new, stupid as hell probably, but new. Into Darkness was so goddamn boring because it was painfully predictable and the second you realized that they were just remaking wrath of khan it all falls apart. The most shocking thing about ST:2009 is that it wasn't a flaming turd of a movie. This one? I just hope that its fun, I've given up on Star Trek movies being any good since The Undiscovered Country.

>>
>>63661105
Watch a Top Ten or Top Twenty episode list of TOS. If you like what you see, go back to the beginning and watch the whole show.

Watch the pilot of TNG, then try watching from the beginning of the third season. If you like what you see, go back to the beginning and watch the whole show.

Save DS9 as a reward for when you finish TOS and TNG.
>>
>>63661105
Start with the best series TOS. Watch the second pilot which was the first to have Kirk in it. The episode is called Where No Man Has Gone Before.
>>
>>63661105

To be quite honest family, not the movies. You also don't NEED to watch them in order, especially the different series, but mostly even the episodes within a series. TOS, TNG, and DS9 are all good in different ways. Voyager should be avoided unless you've suckled hard on the Star Trek-teet and you're desperate for more. Enterprise should be ignored entirely.
>>
these look fucking horrible
>>
>>63661105
the age of TOS put me off so I watched TNG first, don't be dumb like me, TOS is amazing and the age barely matters, I'm just finishing s3 now.

Spock is so cool.

I've never understood why people think that Simon Pegg writing this is any sort of saving grace. Like he's an 'okay' comedy writer, but he's never written anything that'd be dramatic or clever enough to be a decent TNG or DS9 episode.

Not to mention his awkward disdain for geek culture that seems to crop up from time to time.

No, the problem is it was designed by some 20-something hack with no vehicle or machine design experience. People have noted that the scale is all off, and doesn't make sense no matter what size you make it.

It's not even Trekkie nerd stuff, it's basic modelling competency that an effects artist should know. It really makes me wonder what the fuck is wrong with the training pipeline for these people.

Still amazes me how good the alium faces are in B5, especially compared to Trek which has a hell of a bigger budget. You compare the amount of expression even the most no-name narn can get out of his face compared to almost any alien in Trek.

Well it sure as hell wasn't built around action. The show was always heady, and generally disliked by many people for being "boring", techno-babble, and often overly-philosophical dialogue and plots.

I didn't feel that way, but it wasn't even treated like a regular prime time show. It survived because of reruns, and its relatively cheap production costs. We're all better off for it existing too.
