Personally, it's one of my favorites.
>>
It's pretty comfy. My go to if I'm inviting someone over and just want something playing in the background
>>
>>63657541
average,carrell carried it.
>>
1 is rough, but 2,3,4 were really good seasons and it kinda declines in quality after that. After carrell left it's just utter garbage
>>
>>63657592
what are you guys doing?
>>
>>63657658

Nope. After season 1 the show stays great. Some of the best episodes are in season 6/etc.

Show is far from garbage after Carrell leaves.

Stop being an autistic cunt who parrots /tv/

the office is the ONLY show i've ever loved and then completely stopped caring about by the last season. saddens me t b h

Carell carried it but the show was still funny after he left, although there was a massive drop in material. It was nice that they fleshed out some of the other characters though

I watched the show for the first recently time and it becomes TERRIBLE from 8 onwards, the finale was probably the best part of season 9.

Why do colonials have to ruin everything with their shitty remakes? 400 years later and they're still ripping off all their ideas from the motherland.
>>
>>63657759
you know how if you were to change the molecular structure of oxygen by the slightest, we wouldn't be able to breathe? the office had that same delicate balance.
>>
>>63657873
first time recently*
my brain hurts.
>>
I considered the golden parts to be seasons 5-7, when all of the main characters are there. When Michael left, it was sad, but it gave pretty much every other character more of a voice. Michael overshadowed the rest, so it was cool to see how they handled things without him
>>
>>63657926
fym f a m?? no other show took me high and dropped me as hard as the office did
>>
>>63657541
This show made me cry several times Im not ashamed of that fact senpai. I remember crying in the candlelit wedding of Michael and Holly. Also cried when Michael left. Also cried at a few Jim and Pam moments. Also cried at several moments during the finale. There were probably others that I forgot.

Point being this show was not the funniest or the best written or anything like that. Rather it was an extremely /comfy/ show that really figured out how to make the viewer love and feel for the characters
>>
>>63657873
Forgot Dwight, probably the most important character after Michael. Dwight could have carried the show by himself. Jim, Pam, and Andy were good characters, but none of them came close to Dwight

Farm spin off when?
>>
Scott's Tot's anyone?
>>
First 3 seasons were GOAT.

Then after that it became a retarded cartoon with Michael driving his car into a lake and Dwight practically killing everyone in the office in a fire drill and not getting thrown in jail.
>>
>>63658175
Most sitcoms are like this though, from community to 3rd rock from the sun.
>>
>>63658139
Dwight as the manager is different than Dwight on the farm. That said, I loved each episode with Schrute farms, and I'm sad it wasn't it's own show.
>>
It should have ended when Michael proved the company wrong and got hired back.
>>
>>63658205

It didn't happen to Seinfeld until around season 9. And even then Jerry knew it was enough.

Happened to Seinfeld after Larry David left. So season 8 on. However the latter seasons had some quality episodes but they werent the same sort of thing that made the early seasons shine.

>>63658205
community had 2 very good seasons. 3 was the beginning of the end
>>
>>63658285
That's the magic of the show, there isn't a single character on the show that's hot. Everyone is attractive in their own way. That said, damn she got some tig ole bitties
>>
>>63658048
Couldn't have said it better myself.

The finale in particular is GOAT comfy. Especially the part where Creed appears and plays his little song with everyone around.

British one was so much better. I mean not just humor wise, which it was, but on a much deeper level the shows dramatic arc [its single dramatic arc] was so much more fulfilling and revealing.

Jim, or whomever, can't evolve from his role as detached clown. So while we can all love him as the voice of cynicism and contempt for the mechanics of contemporary interpersonal society, and even feel personally gypped when he doesn't get the Pam in the romantic sphere, or overtake the Dwight in the social sphere, we must, as the British version of the show forces us to, realize that Jim -- Jim's mindset -- no matter how how appealing is the looser of contemporary society.

In the end he won't invest. His reciprocal love interest will remain with the genuine Chad because he has to insist that he is above the obviously contemptuous mechanics of the social sphere. And even when recognized by his superiors as a possible leader he will wilt because he takes so seriously his his contempt for the lame seriousness of how the business world operates.

That is what made the original version of the show so amazing -- it managed to make this very subtle, very cold point, while still being amazingly humorous.

The American version. i don't know, it was just a cluster fuck spam of the best jokes from the first two seasons of the British version hashed over and over while meaningless dramatic arcs were inserted over and over again with predictable results. Blahg

A poor attempt at recreating the genius of the original.

The entire concept of the mockumentary that made the original stand out from the usual sitcoms of it's time is ruined by having the actors named in the titles.

If it was named anything else it would be a solid sitcom, but it isn't so it'll be judged against the thing it is trying to copy and it fails miserably.

>>
>>63660179
They tried to Americanize the show, which is everything the original wasn't.

The opening titles are the perfect example - even putting aside naming actors in them. The British version is supposed to blend in with the endless "reality" shows on TV at the time. It looks like it was made in a couple of hours with some grim shots of the surroundings of the Office summing up the dead end job of the people working in them and the song to boot.

So many American critics, who don't mind or even like the original, find the titles depressing.
