the frustrating thing is he was stuck in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. if you were to re-live his day everyday, you could barely expect to make it out of the state. remember, he re-lives a day when all flights are cancelled, and the roads have been closed. you would be very much stuck in that shitty little town for the best portion of your life.
you would probably go mad from despair, making all these little plans and the next day they fall apart. you could literally accomplish absolutely nothing: you couldn't form relationships, you couldn't build wealth.
even the same climate forever would make me want to kill myself (which you can't).
no matter how hard you try, and how creative you get, you will still end up getting sick of the same food, the same people. even if you stole a car and drove five hours to a decent city, you're still spending five hours in a car on the highway until the end of time, which is enough to wanna kill yourself (which you can't).
come to think of it now... given that you would eventually get to a stage where you're praying for death, and it won't come to you... living every day over and over forever in his situation genuinely sounds like living hell on earth.

Does the day reset also reset my stamina? What are the demarcations in physical and mental boundaries? I mean, he retains his memories, and he becomes mentally exhausted which continues from day to day, but frying himself with a toaster, walking in front of a bus, and driving off a cliff leave no physical signs after reset. Could I train myself to block out various forms of physical agony? Do I age at all? This movie is about a demonic entity which has taken the metaphysical form of the town of Punxsutawney. Proud and arrogant, the entity is very zealous with its traditions and immediately feels threatened by Phil's lackluster report, fearing a negative impact on its image. In order to fix the situation, the entity orchestrates the events of the movie and only releases Phil from the time loop when he finds himself completely and utterly mind-broken and entranced by the city, not only delivering a beautiful speech of praise, but also swearing to spend his remaining days there, much to the entity's delight.
