the big money will not come from theater tickets or blu-ray sales -- it will come from toys, games, clothes and so on. You are watching a two hour toy commercial, and disney have the best experience in the world selling these things to kids. Look at frozen. This will get the same package deal.

Disney has an advertising budget worth more than Australia's GDP. Social media will be a huge player in this movie's advertising, which is something Avatar didn't really have when it premiered (it was there but nowhere huge as it is now)
With good word of mouth there is no way this movie isn't breaking $3bn
