because he is THE Dark Lord of the Edge of the series.
He really reached the power of Plagueis, in the EU he kills his apprentice and then revives him like stabbing and throwing him into outer space for weeks was nothing.
He'd really love to ditch that Sheev cunt and become the mystical god-emperor of the galaxy, but he really is a good humble man (Jedi teachings) and doesn't care for power for himself.
He'd do it just to put his family, his loved ones on top of everything.

Anyone else think James Earl Jones should've played the unmasked Vader? Sure,e xplaning why Luke isn't an octoroon might be sort of a stretch, but James earl Jones isn't that dark. If you gave him the powder white makeup, and maybe some scarring/cybernetic parts to obscure the more African-y features, and I think it would've been much more memorable than the Sebastian shaw vader,which I think felt too jarring.

And when fighting Obiwan he calls it "My new empire"
Anakin clearly thought he was going to use Sheev's knowledge to clean up the war and then become Emperor himself
He got fucked over in the fight with Obiwan and weakened and couldn't follow through and was forced to be Sheev's bitch, not tricked into it.

Vader hated Palpatine much more than before after his entire fucking body was mutilated and he was put in the suit. He came to realize he was too weak to overthrow the Emperor, so had to live as his slave. Various EU works have him plotting with others to overthrow him. Vader wanted to, but could never actually do so.
That's a dynamic I'd like to see explored more. The relationship between Palpatine and Vader after they start running the empire, scheming against each other.
