>>

Because like every website on the internet growth in audience is driving down quality.

Just watch, someone will either call him "reddit" or a "meme" director rather be able to give a single coherent thought.

Thank you. For proving my point, my pleb
>>
>>63626996
Start with Kurosawa, move on to Ozu.

The world is then your oyster.

Miike is violent.
Teshigahara is by far the best Japanese director.
Sion Sono is great.
Beat Takashi is also great.

Thanks, fellow anon. C ya.

Yojimbo is a legitamatly great movie, that inspired a great movie that lead to a great trilogy.

Seven samurai is good, but not the best

Sanjuro is decent.

Kagemusha I honestly felt was too long winded

we all know that it goes Ikiru > Ran > Rashomon > High and Low > Dersu Uzala and that all the SS/Yojimbo/Fortress/Kagemusha/Throne fags are entry level and probably reddit, right?

I find it fascinating how everyone blames reddit for everything but rarely the same thing.
Tumblr blames it for right wingers, MRAs, redpillers, etc.
4chan blames it for shitposters and "XD MEME" people
More basic boards blame it for liberals.
Twitter and Facebook seem to blame it for anime fans, oddly enough.
>>
>>63627563
Take your meme directors back to IMDb, reddit
>>
>>63627572
4chan has always had its bogeymen, this isn't anything new at all. People will always blame [insert_reddit_analogue_#415345] instead of admitting that all our problems are our own invention because everyone just shits where they eat.
>>
>>63627572
>>63627597
People who scream "Reddit" at everything on here are interesting to me. Since half the time what they consider to be Reddit is stuff that 4chan invented.

In this very thread somebody accused Baneposting of being Reddit. We started Baneposting,if Reddit does it now too it's only because they stole it from us.
>>
>>63627703
>We started Baneposting
If you were really from /tv/ you'd know that "Baneposting" only started in 2014 because /sp/ and reddit rejects thought one autist's spam was an epic /tv/ meme.
>>
>>63627826
>reddit rejects
Nice boogeyman, you have no way to prove that. We're all anony moose here, anon.

>>

Projecting much, reddit?
>>
>>63626930

this desu senpai
>>
I recently saw Seven Samurai, didn't really like it. I get that it was good for its time and influenced a ton of other movies, but I don't really understand what enjoyment people are getting out of it other than that.

What am I missing?
>>
Because Kobayashi, Teshigahara, Mizoguchi, Shinoda, and Ichikawa are much better contemporary Japanese directors.

Ozu is by the far the most overrated director from the Golden Age of Japanese cinema though. At least Kurosawa is entertaining.
>>
>>63627522
Throne of Blood is his best film by far, and the best film adaptation of Macbeth too.
>>
>>63629673
>entertaining
At least try to hide the fact that you're a plotfag pleb next time.
>>
>>63629739
>implying Ozu isn't a plotfag

You can figure out the "superdeep" themes of his movies by watching just one of them, it's basically just Japanese Confucianism. His plots are incredibly simplistic vehicles for his incredibly simplistic message about family and respecting your elders etc.
>>
>>63626821
No. It's rather because he's a prominent historical figure.
>>
>>63627522

Dat opening of Kagemusha is one of the finest scenes Kurosawa ever done. One of the best roles of Nakadai-san too, and that's saying something considering his filmography. So it's neither entry level or reddit.
>>
>>63630516
It's not even close to one of Nakadai's best roles.
>>
>>63627062
Seijun Suzuki's stuf is pretty nuts too, in a very b movie way.
>>
>>63630574
Thats Harakiri
>>
>>63630638
Harakiri is amazing but I actually think his best role is in A Face of Another.
>>
>>63626821
>he hasn't seen ikiru

No you're a stupid cunt.
>>
>>63629673
watch Tokyo Twilight and Late Spring

Tokyo Story a shit
>>
>>63630638
>>63630655
Human Condition trilogy desu, especially the 3rd in the trilogy

Face of Another is ok, but having a character explain the entire plot like you're an 8 year old was the worst thing Teshigahara ever did

The 3rd film is basically standalone and is definitely the strongest in terms of cinematography, stage direction, characterization, etc. You can really see the evolution of Kobayashi's artistic skills through the 3 movies and Nakadai's Kaji becomes a much more realistic character and less of a self-righteous Mary Sue. The second film is definitely the weakest.

Great final scene too.
>>
>>63626792
When did /tv/ love Kurosawa? I don't remember that.
>>
>>63626792
who the fuck hates kurosawa? niggas a fookin legend, its like hating hitchcock or something, you just dont
