The question is what movies might you have missed (that were good):

Tomorrowland (too unfocused and tried to sell science to 10 year old girls)

Bone Tomahawk- shot on no money in California, somehow managed to get Kurt Russel to give the best performance since tombstone.

Pixels- just good fun, even though all they did was remake The Last Starfighter. the type of movie you could take a group of 10 year olds to and still have a good time.

Chappie: more good fun harking back to Short Circuit

American Ultra- comedy drama with a unique storyline. mediocre execution.

worst of the year, non children's movies:

San Andreas- the rock punches an earthquake
Jupiter Ascending- Differential equation boots and elf ears on Magic Mike Guy
Entourage- everyone looks 25 years older. all people involved with this should be gassed.
Ricki and the Flash- nothing rocks harder than a 65 year old Meryl Streep
Vacation- somehow they managed to make a comedy that completely lacks humor or warmth or any feeling whatsoever.

>>
>>63617268
There's nothing wrong with not having PHYSICAL books.

Eitherway, literature is one big meme. Films are a billion times better, and I suspect the reason for that is the amount of people involved in producing any one film, which help prevent "tunnel vision" from the creators to a much, much greater extent than in the case of books. Thus, even the worst 10% of the best films are more fantastic, more grounded, more emotive, more textured and more intricate than the top 0.1% of the best books. I would certainly consider someone with an extensive modern fiction library to be a red-flag: if it's old, then it could be a legacy. If it's non-fiction, then it can be informative. If it's new and fiction, then the person must not be very smart to be able to appreciate such low-quality work. By new I mean the age of the book itself, not the age of the script from which the book was copied.

You fuckers just want to shit on movies for the sake of being negative. Granted, most of these movies were not fantastic cinematic marvels, but a number of them had decent redeeming qualities. Acting as if the entire year was an unforgivable waste because it had a run of flawed films that retained good qualities (say fury road for great practical effects, directing and editing) is asinine and childish to the extreme. You are the kind of people that would shit on Picasso for being a meme painter, or claim that Stravinsky was a hack of a composer because he followed a trend in modernist composition.
>>
>>63620289
When the good outweighs the bad then the film is a disappointment. You could find something good to say about most of those movies but ultimately they're still overall failures.

What actually makes something a meme film? Is it the overdone, winking at the audience, cringey post-modernism that prevents most narratives being told in earnest? Or that they aspire for their scenes to literally end up as memes? Do any of you even know?? Train wreck was totally GOAT tho. 2/10 hambeasts are my hnnnggg

Personally, I think it'should when the director adds something that he thinks is a good idea that will be adapted by the audience
"What a lovely day!!" Is a good example of this.
They milked that so hard.
>>
>>63616117
Movies, Television series and video games have all gone to absolute shit. I'm not just getting old, i got old a while back. There is a social agenda in anything with a decent budget now a days.

I am really sick of producers and directors deciding they serve a greater purpose in socially conditioning than entertaining. It is like i feel they thought they had me locked. Like i was watching because i had to. I watched because i was entertained.

Show after show and movie after movie are failing because of this, but they just keep trying. I have not enjoyed a video game since 2010 if i am being perfectly honest.
