Just saw this, was wondering what the /tv/ verdict is.

In my opinion, there were a bit too many references to the previous movies, too many cliches or cheesy moments and a bad casting choice for C. The whole Blofeld part felt out of place as well. A very mediocre James Bond movie.

What does /tv/ think?

>It was Smee James, the author of all your pain

Who was Smee?

I thought it was all good up until the Spectre base exploded.

First of all, why did it even explode? Did the watch systematically destroy the entire complex, or was it self-destructed? There's no clear reasoning.

Secondly, everything after that moment felt very rushed and crammed together. They had too many things to tie up and refused to leave anything for the next movie to deal with, but they didn't have enough time to properly conclude all of it at once so it was very sloppy.
>>

That was very odd indeed, I guess the small explosion from the gas valve supposedly led to the big explosion? Didn't understand that either.

I also didn't completely understand the torture scene, I assume he missed the target with the second puncture, because he didn't forget anything. I also found the scope and information about Spectre itself lacking.

In retrospect, the first scene/location was probably the best, in Mexico.

Yeah, I dunno. I just took it to mean he was all talk and his spiels about destroying Bond's mind were just hot air to fuck with his head. Could have also been that he just missed or some bullshit about the power of love. You're right that it has zero explanation, though, so it's all up for interpretation until there's an interview or commentary to explain it.

Is there more than one person doing this or is there just one guy sitting around in his unwashed underwear monitoring /tv/ for Bond threads just waiting to post this?

They won a court-case recently that allowed them to use Blofeld as a character and SPECTRE as an organization again.

The new movie puts a lot of emphasis and references on linking the previous movies, even though it's unlikely they were written to be connected like that.

I thought SPECTRE itself was pretty weak story wise.
>>
>>63605299
Indeed, all movies are suddenly linked together but how and why was not explained. In previous movies no link to Spectre was mentioned either.

It just fell kinda out of their air and then ended it the same hour. Apparently Blofeld was the Big Boss of SPECTRE, but now he's dead as well, so what now?

>Apparently Blofeld was the Big Boss of SPECTRE, but now he's dead as well, so what now?

All it takes to reverse it is a single line: "We never did recover his body, we assumed it was destroyed in the explosion."

>Apparently Blofeld was the Big Boss of SPECTRE, but now he's dead as well

What? Blofeld's alive at the end of Spectre.

Why isn't he banned for spamming yet

He's not dead though, did you miss the ending? The ending is basically a big setup for Blofeld as the villain in future installments. At some he'll go bald and get the white cat on his lap..

Pic related, the original Blofeld.

Apprehended, my bad.

I meant, this organization that was apparently bigger than all other organisations in the Bond universe, ever, has now ended. So where the fuck do they go from here? They can hardly ignore this fact
>>
>>63605901
>has now ended
Did it though? I can't remember it exactly, but I don't recall SPECTRE being disbanded. They'll probably elect a new boss and wait until Blofeld escapes from jail.
>>
>>63605901

One particular outpost was destroyed. The organization still exists.
>>
>>63605848
>The ending is basically a big setup for Blofeld as the villain in future installments.

Except Bond is implied to have quit to run off with whatsherface. Not that they won't make any more, but Craig is done, so now we're going to get another "reboot" with little or no connection to the rest of the franchise,
>>
>>63606042
>but Craig is done

He still has one more movie in his contract, bitching or no bitching.
>>
>>63605998
>>63606024
But wasn't Blofeld practically the head? From his autistic table performance, it seemed he was the head and only he.

I believe the previous movies' bad guys were the tentacles of SPECTRE, mostly all are dead.
>>
>>63606042
Craig is contractually bound to do another though.
>>
>>63606082
>It's 2 hours of Craig sitting at home, trying to come to terms with his retirement
>>

>extremely bored, phoned-in performance
>even more passive aggressive interviews

The next one is going to be awesome.
>>
>>63606091

Taking away the leader of an organization like that doesn't just make them all instantly walk away. At worst there's a power vacuum and infighting, but it still exists and things are getting done. At best they carry on with the plan and plot to get their leader back or civilly choose a new leader. This sort of thing doesn't just die overnight, though.
>>
>>63606082

The ending of this movie genuinely felt like a send-off for Craig. If he came back I'd be surprised.
>>
>>63606199
>plot to get their leader back

I know they'll probably do this, but in an organization where we saw people literally just walk up and kill each other to get a promotion, why would they even bother?
>>
>>63606450

Some weird sense of duty bludgeoned into them by Blofeld, I guess?
>>
>>63604492
Yes it was quite mediocre. I still liked it more than QotS and Skyfall though. Re-watched Casino Royale today and have to say it's my favorte Bond. I wonder who they are going to pick after Craig, I can't imagine anyone else taking the role after seeing him in the last 4, except maybe Emily Blunt..that would be fucking awesome.
