How do they do the thing where they film someone looking in a mirror, but there's no reflection of a camera????
the film the reflection of the room first and just kinda composite it with another shot including the actor i think
hidden camera

The actor sees the camera , not himself
I believe it's magic.
The camera can't be seen in the mirror because of the Heisenberg principle
Magic!

>“a Steadicam person with the Vista Vision camera strapped to his chest ran backwards in front of Young Ellie as he goes up the stairs and down the hallway – there was a speed change – we ramp from 24 to 48fps (though I can’t remember exactly – we could have ramped through three different speeds) – by the time she stops and puts her hand to open the medicine cabinet door (”A" plate ) – we are then inside the reflection. The medicine cabinet was the “B” plate (second plate) and then the door closes and we have the “C” plate (third plate) which was the reflection of the photo of Young Ellie and her dad. B"
>or, in simpler terms, “the shot was filmed normally and flipped in post to achieve the mirror image. The actual bathroom mirror was replaced with a bluescreen into which the original shot was superimposed.”
Jesus fucking chirst
I don't even understand what I read
Has there ever been times where you can see the set though someone's glasses?

It's simple when you think about it. That bit about camera speeds is irrelevant as to how they actually did the sequence.
They basically filmed her normally, then at the end of this first shot, she reaches out to an imaginary cabinet. This footage was flipped because it's all "inside" the mirror.
There was another shot of the cabinet with a bluescreen "mirror" which starts at about 11 seconds into this webm. "Plates" here refers to shots.
All they need to do now was to run the first shot, then composite it and time it right so that it appears seamless with the second shot.

That's the principle of physics that says Fring is half dead and half alive, right

It's a simple application of Schröfringer's cat and the bra-kek notation, yes.
