>1995
>Mel Gibson doesn't get the Oscar for the best lead actor for Braveheart
>Instead they give it to Nicolas Coppola
Literally what the fuck. He wasn't even nominated.

They call them swarthy Italians for a reason.
>>63601471
His acting wasn't particularly great.
>>63601558
You take that back you piece of shit.
>>63601506
>the Roman Empire never ended, it just got conquered by Jews
>>63601588
He's right though
Gibson's a much better director than an actor
>>63601637
He's not a bad actor though.
Okay, you've just watched Braveheart again, that's nice. Yes, it's a fun movie. No Gibson's acting was not particularly noteworthy in that film, you just think it is because it's a good film.
This reflected appreciation happens all the time in film unfortunately, and the Oscars have been guilty of it a lot too.
>>63601721
Yeah, but he's not particularly great either. He got his break in acting because his face was all beat up during his audition, and then he basically played the Driver.
>>63601471
Trying to watch Braveheart now any time Mel talks it feels like a parody.
>>63601798
Why so? I never stopped taking him seriously.
>>63601471
Hamfisted overacted pile. Suck it OP.
>>63601839
His accent is horrendous and jokey.
I never found Mel to be particularly convincing as an actor in anything. His characters tend to seem like wish-fulfillment for himself, not how any actual humans behave. Which is pretty common for action stars and totally fine in those movies, but I wouldn't say he deserved an Oscar for anything.
>>63601859
I can spot you,Jewishscoundrel.
>>63601880
To be honest, I feel like his personality leaks on to basically all his characters. The utmost example of this is that chick flick with Helen Hunt.
But I still like him as an actor. Fuck's sake, at least he was miles ahead Cage in '95. He should've taken home the Oscar.
>>63601737
I've recently watched Braveheart too, and it's nowhere near as good as I thought it was when I was 10.
LLV is an incomparably better film, and NC's performance deserved to win.
Mel thread?

>>63602998
Chicken run
>>63602998
patriot, solid movie.
also is that a program? I want it.
>>63603041
I liked that movie when I was younger because I thought it was goofy fun. It took years for me to realize its a pretty brilliant POW film
>>63602998
I just watched The Passion yesterday. Fantastic filmmaking. Not as good as Braveheart or Apocalypto, but still very good. I wish Mel could get back to directing.
I totally disagree with the accusations of anti-semitism in the film. The Romans are way more brutal than the Jews in the movie, and every single good guy in the movie is a Jew.
>>63602998
I liked Payback cause its the old school 90s action flick
Watch Lethal Weapon
Why is the dubbing in Lethal weapon so bad? still a great scene

Holy shit my sides, why would they dub this? I don't remember any of this.

>He's my hero as well! And if given half a chance, Mel would make an outstanding and brilliant President! His handsome face does belong on Mount Rushmore. Mel is THE MAN! THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE MEL (and the maniac, though this competent, worthy and very Irish one at that. Like myself!! :) :) ).
