What is the most accurate "based on a true story" movie?
Go for Broke!
Most of the main cast were the actual soldiers the movie was telling the story of. It's also a reeally good war movie. Not preachy. Not over-the-top.

It's based on a book. The book is surprisingly lax when it comes to being based on "true" events. Some characters where made up, others combined, some events invented, some not mentioned, etc.

I think Catch Me If You Can was rather close, I think only the father's reappearance and meeting with his son were truly made up.
