Why didn't CGI improve in the past 5-6 years?

Why didn't CGI improve in the past 5-6 years?
>>
>>63591685
It did, you're just too into memes from /tv/
>>
>>63591685
Its not that, it definatly has
Its just studios are cheap when it comes to hiring visual effects studios
And what makes it worse is when a director, like snyder, and his movie is 70-80% cgi oriented
>>
James Cameron hasn't brought out a new film in 5-6 years.
>>
It's also the hardware and being able to just add more info to the screen in a reasonable amount of time.

Once quantum computing comes around it'll be much better
>>
>>63591685
You get what you pay for. CGI can look great if you have a competent team of artists and designers. If not, you get grey no-clip Hulk
>>
Because there is only one true artist pushing those boundaries and he's busy with his Avatar sequels.
>>
>>63591728
Good luck making a movie with superman and wonder woman without huge amounts of cgi

Nothing wrong with making them lie down prone and blowing a fan in their face to simulate flight. In fact the impression you get on /co/ is that's how DC fans would want it.

OP, the cgi is fine, its just a poor shot.

when you take CGI and dont add proper color to it during the grading process it looks inorganic and thus fake.

However, the left side of his face has that even orange tint which adds tecture to him while the blueish white right side makes him look wet.

And to be fair to BVS this is VERY hard to pull off in a night shot. Though Zack Snyder and his production teams tend to do it fairly well.

For more reference, see this pic of Davy jones and his orange tints.

Stargate Studios has built an entire career off of color and lighting matching. If "Ugly Betty" can afford them, so can BVS.
>>
>>63591685
Looks fine. It'll look better after it's done and onscreen. What I'm most looking forward to is how he'll evolve.

dare I say that I need more... CINEMATIC TRAINING?
>>
I think time is the biggest factor. That and communication between the filmmakers and the post production crew. Seeing that capeshit for example has become a assembly line type entertainment in a highly competitive field, producers prefer to throw money at them instead of the time needed to plan things out and polish, so you get "eh, good enough" job by overworked crews that are being told to do things fast and not always with the best material for them to work with.
>>
>>63591906
maby you should research what sort of CG Stargate studios actually does because running your dick holster.

WHY THE FUCK DID THEY SPOIL THE ENTIRE MOVIE
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>63592147
Not with Snyder's case.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruel_and_Unusual_Films

he owns the CGI company, but this is likely a case of the CGI not being 100% done, much like with Godzilla, they make some samples used in trailers while the other stuff is still getting renders and touch ups.

after all, this film doesnt ship out until august.
and they work on post production until the last minute.

i think like man of steel it'll look fine as long as people dont slow down every frame..like what /tv/ does to nit pick the shit out of something to make a forced meme.

Now MCU films...yeah, assembly line pieces of shit.
DCU seems to have a more director controlled stance on these.

>movie spoiled

nah. they released this more than likely half way reveal just to fuck up Civil War's hype.

and it worked.

Don't know what your way was directed toward but Godzilla 2014 looked pretty great, and the closest we've gotten in a movie to looking even close to as good as the first 2 Jurassic park films, apes is not far behind

Smaug is debatable, but he looks better than the rest of the cgi in that trilogy

Godzilla was really good. they really got the color and texture and movement down.
>>
>>63591685
It has, it just requires more money and effort than it does to replicate old CGI. This has always been the case.

Load of bullshize. Marvel and DC are more likely to be using each others' ad campaigns to give their own a boost. The higher the overall public hype for cape films the better they all do. The 'competition' only exists in the minds of company wars shills who can't and don't grasp the idea of sharing.

The BvS trailer wasn't good, and did look rushed, but the far more well received CW trailer from the week before has helped lift it out of the general fans' "holy fuck this is crap!" zone. Same with Fox's new Ivan Ooze And His Plastic Sidekicks trailer.

Nearly everything you've seen on screen recently could have been done in the mid 90s. By the late 90s pretty much all of it could.
Only variable that's changed is how much time it takes to accomplish.
