What was ANYONE getting out of Sheev's arrangement? Dooku, Grievous, Gunray had literally no reason to fight the war.

Dooku found the Jedi to be corrupt and too limiting, so he left and Sheev gave him a position of power and no restraints on using the dark side.
Greivous was given a leadership position in the droid army by Dooku. Who wouldn't want that?
Gunray was the leader of the Trade Federation who were being held down by the republic. So they went to war. A sith Lord is a massive help to reach your goals.

Canonically he wanted to be a really badass warrior on par with the jedi and got cyborg implants and finally a full body for this reason as evidenced by The Clone Wars episode 11.
EU elaborated that it was to free his homeworld from Huk, mantis aliens, and the episode didn´t include anything to imply the contrary which means Lucas was accepting of this story or at least didn´t deem it worthy to actively sabotage like Moraband.
