What I hate most about all of this is how little effort they do to actually make it spaceish, futuristic.
You get one writer who has a low understanding of everything in tech, economy, politics, nature etc. To make a grand futuristic picture even remotely realistic.
Which means that you get pretty looking, but completely impractical looking sci fi environments. No guard rails, no evolution of them between lawsuits and improvements. There will be no architects or engineers consulted to design possible futuristic spaehs things. It will all be dull, bland and boring. The only thing those movies got going for them are aesthetic looking space ships. The world itself is bland and unrealistic though.
