Revan is all over the place. kotor had a neat twist but it was a really terribly written game.
I'm just getting into the EU, read the Thrawn trilogy and really enjoyed it. Also read Darth Plagueis (really fun in some parts, the politic shit with Naboo not so much) and picked up Shadows of the Empire. Should be getting a whole heap of others for Christmas from my girlfriend including the X-Wing series. Are the Knights of the Republic era books worth digging into?
Revan was cool but they took a huge dump on him making him return in the old republic.

In fairness to that clone bullshit, all authors had to work with was there were Clone Wars, at one point in the near past. Clones could have been mutant zombie things - EU writers went with main character doppelgangers.

Revan is what Anakin should have been in the prequels. In fact, straight up copying the storyline and changing the characters would have made for a better trilogy.

They could even keep the Sheev business and have him be behind the invasion force, playing both sides - if the invasion succeeds yay for him, if not he could probably use it to advance himself polticially and gain ultimate control like he did in the prequels. But then he is confronted by Skywalker and realizes he has the opportunity to corrupt him.
Seriously with a story like this we would at the very least have Anakin be shown as something other than a total asshole all the time and maybe we could even have avoided the awful romance subplot.
Everything except for KOTOR and works of Timothy Zahn.
Some of Michael A. Stackpole books were decent as well. And Jedi Knight game series.

Everything that I hoped for wasn't written up in greater detail. I mean, this guy is supposed to reinvent the Sith completely after destroying the previous form, and yet we get so few details regarding the Force, his and Zannah's relationship with it and so on. Zannah was interesting in the last book, but that's it.
