you think its a motherfuckin game?

its a war, and I won.
>>
>>63545135
How can one man be so FUCKIN based?

He takes the world by storm with a movie about a ship everyone knows is gonna sink, then takes FOREVER to make another movie and then that movie becomes the new #1.

And he's not even Jewish (right?)

how can so much pleb be crammed into one list.
I dont think I even belong to this species.
>>
>>63545076
because it's interesting and indicates what kind of movies we'll see in the future
>>
>>63545262
>that top 3

Disney BTFO
>>
its amusing.

Also, fun fact, boxofficemojo's top three is wrong. Accounting for inflation, the top three movies made over 3b worldwide. Avatar, titanic and star wars.
>>
>>63545511
Actually the top three movies of all time adjusted for inflation are Gone with the Wind, Avatar and Titanic. Star wars is lower in the top 10.
>>
>>63545557

b-but Gone With te Wind has been in the theater for over 70 years! n-not fair!!!
>>
>>63545596
Give Titanic a few more rereleases over the span of a few decades and it will be the highest grossing film of all time adjusted for inflation, never to be surpassed.
>>
>>63545557
Gone with the wind is weird. It made so much money because it was in theaters for decades, because it was basically the only real movie in existence and there wasn't even home television.

But yea, even if you count gone with the wind, its still one of the four movies that grossed over 3b by today's money. That fourth being star wars. Then there's about a billion gap between the 3b club and everything else.
>>
>>63545705
>The only other film that all sources agree grossed in excess of $2 billion at current prices is Star Wars; according to Guinness it has earned $2.8 billion at 2014 price levels, while other sources from 2010/2011 put its adjusted earnings at $2.2–2.6 billion.

t. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films

Even the highest estimates of the gross of the original star wars movie don't come close to $3b.
>>
>>63545262
How did Jurassic World make so much money? Do people really find dinosaurs that fascinating?
>>
>>63545756
Or you could go to boxofficemojo, see it made 775m worldwide, and plug that into an inflation calculator.
>>
>>63545262

ROTK is no longer top 10
>>
>>63545990
good. Its a pretty boring and tiresome movie.
>>
>>63545818
People were that sick of seeing capeshit in the top 3
>>
>>63545262

Where's this list from?
>>
>>63546013

All LOTR is boring m8
>>
>>63545961
shh, stop encouraging independent thought and verification of fags.
>>
>>63545756
How the fuck did Star Wars become such a smash hit anyways?
It really amazes me how well the first movie did despite all the production problems.
>>
>>63545262

>literally not a single good film in the top 20
>>
>>63545818
I don't really think you comprehend how fucking popular the first ones were
>>
>>63545961
Yeah I'm sure you plugging in a figure like $775m into a static 1977 inflation calculator when the original release only made $410m in 1977/1978 and additional releases in 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1982 bought it to $510m worldwide total, and only after a further rerelease in 1997 did the total stand at $775m, is way more accurate than multiple expert sources which claim otherwise.

Fucking idiot.

I get that thinking for yourself is hard, but no need to get angry about it.
>>
>>63546210
Stay mad, fanboy. Star wars isn't nearly as sucessful as you think it is.
>>
>>63546132
let me put it this way, the mindless disney executives who thought 4b was a good price for the franchise didn't do much research beyond going to box office mojo and putting the worldwide gross in a "static" inflation calculator.
>>
>>63546253
Ah, I see, you're angry that people are implying star wars made lots more money than whatever movie you liked.
>>
>>63546263

>4b for all of Marvel
>Not good

m8 are you retarded
>>
>>63546311
>disney paid george lucas 4b for marvel

... embarassing.
>>
>SW fags in denial again
Kek. Like clockwork.
>>
>>63546347

Either way 4b for Star Wars is just fine

When they open Star Wars land in Disney Land it'll pay it's self off and then some
>>
>>63546263
it's not based making the total back from box office returns, silly.

that said they could easily crash and burn if TFA is actually poorly received and the follow-ups don't restore faith.
>>
>>63546423
Yea, sure, that's what they keep telling themselves and pushing in the marketing... but star wars has been so bad for so long that Disney would need to pull some major shit to get back in people's good graces...

and they hired JJ abrams who is conducting himself as if failure is impossible.

uh yeah.
