Captain, I project a 70% rate of failure for this thread. Due to my analysis of previous Trek threads, anonymous posters seem to not respond well to threads pertaining to the Star Trek television series during the daylight hours.

Riker and Frasier are having a coffee in ten forward when in comes deanna to join them, riker and deanna throw a witty barb at each other about either one's promiscuity, then frasier tells deanna about the recital in the holodeck later that evening, to ask if he could get him some nice chocolates to bring his date, dr crusher. then in comes picard and joins them for coffee, and picard tells frasier hell be using the holodeck for his baseball game with his best bud benny. they get in a little argument about it and picard goes off in a huff about not feeling welcome in his own ship. cue to act 2 in which frasier tries to get to crusher's quarters to escort her on his date but is constantly waylaid by ensign roh, who he had a brief relationship with previously, and who he is now trying to juggle a quick date with because he had forgotten he had already made plans with her on the same day to visit the arboretum. cue the back and forth hijinks of frasier thinking he can pull both off one after the other even though crusher keeps showing up early to see if they can maybe get some dinner before the recital. it all blows up in frasier's face when deanna shows up with the chocolates labelled for crusher and roh thinks theyre for her. as frasier begs her not to dump him in the hallways crusher hears all of it and he hilariously finds himself like the dog without a bone. cue credits, in which we see spot batting at the chocolates in frasier's apartment as if they were a toy.
genius.

I'm starting to draw up a 'Voyager christmas special' thing because I think it's sad we don't have any artfags here.
Most of the stuff is inspired by the thread last night, but feel free to give further advice/ideas:

-Neelix reading 'How Seven Saved Chritmas' to Naomi Wildman
-Tom and B'elanna under the mistletoe
-Harry Kim drunkenly trying to entertain an annoyed Tuvok
-Red-nosed EMH giving a painting to Seven as a gift
-Neelix-made Christmas food on a table somewhere
-Janeway dressed in a Santa costume with presents(?)
-Akoochemoya putting a Starfleet insignia on top of a tree(?)

The development of AI brainpower between TNG and VOY (hell, even within TNG with Moriarty) was always confusing. Data was a one-of-a-kind genius machine that was unable to mimic a lot of basic human tendencies, but the Doctor, a dime-a-dozen holographic program, did it all flawlessly. His second line in the series was a condescending crack about which tricorder he needed.
In the post-VOY era maybe Data could get a hologram-tier understanding of humans.
>>
this argument reminds me of that episode where data lost his memories and then he went to that town and gave everyone radiation sickness but then he saved them.

he was a hero to the townsfolk in the end, but it would have been better if he never showed up in the first place.

He kinda half worms around me and hisses "Honey GLAZEd!" to the lady over the counter and I just kinda stare at him for a sec then smile and say thanks. I'm about to pay for it and he whispers "In THE FUTURE, we won't have money" and pays the check for it right there. I was astounded, it was so awesome that I did the only thing I could think of ... I stood still as he grabbed my ear. Once again he cracks up and asked me if I had any idea how long it had been since someone had let him do that. I said "a year?" he shouts "It's been an EXTRAORDINARY seven years, YOU gotta say!".

We ended up having coffee at a place across the street. Turns out he bought a house in Mercer, a really expensive county in NJ, and has been living there a while. We talked about everything that wasn't his career for a long time-- it's difficult to explain, it's hard to say how long-- before he had to take off because his deli stuff was gonna go bad. I shook his ear and said he made my year today. He exploded with laughter and beat my head in with a baseball bat. I looked up from the floor, my eyes covered in my own blood as I made out a blurry image of an orb being hoisted above his head. Through the ringing in my ears I couldn't hear his probably non-linear parting line regarding "the notion about I as in the context of we" before the orb came crashing down, ending my corporeal life.

Yes he did, he just wasn't a white knight zealot like Bashir. Sisko believes very strongly in the ideals of the Federation and Starfleet, which is pretty much the entire point of several episodes of DS9. He just knows that those ideals can't be applied to all individuals in all situations at all times: sometimes, a person might have to personally do something they know is wrong to protect the ideals. S31, on the other hand, is all about doing the shifty stuff all the time, to protect the Federation as an organization, not the ideals behind it.

You know he must have a freakish amount of blackmail power, i'm sure he made to have proof about what happened with the Romulans.

I always wondered if Ambassador Troi looked into his head to see how he convinced the Federation to fix Cardassia before Betazed and freaked out over it. Bullshit. Section 31 does those things so that the Federation as a whole doesn't have to morally burden themselves with such things. Sisko knowingly abetted and ordered two murders and started a war even though he knew he was wrong.

Section 31s morality would have be just fine with that but Siskos was not. If it was 31, Garak or the Romulans themselves doing it then it would not be so bad since their moral code would see such action as defensible or even admirable. Sisko betrayed everything he believed in for the sake of expediency, made worse as his beliefs specifically reject the idea of moral relativity for the sake of convenience.

Federation morality demanded that they lose the war rather than stoop to such subterfuge and he knew it. That is the whole point of the Federation.

When you look at it the Ferengi have more moral conviction than Sisko does, they don't believe in the concept of participating in war and have never fought one EVER. The idea that they can survive while upholding their principles but the Federation cannot is a damning indictment of the Federation's core beliefs not to mention Siskos faith in them..

No, he didn't. The point was that Garak did that without Sisko's knowledge, but that Sisko couldn't do anything about it.
>Federation morality demanded that they lose the war rather than stoop to such subterfuge
No, that's entirely wrong. Perhaps an extreme reading of the Enlightened Human philosophy might say that, but that's not the Federation. Starfleet exists for a reason, and there is Starfleet Intelligence, which is all about subterfuge and such things, just not the S31-style skulldrudgery. The Federation won't stand for billions of people being killed (the inevitable result of losing a war with a major power). They went to war with the Klingons in DS9 to protect an antagonistic empire (the Cardassians); they're not pacifists.

Amazing that they never use them in any logical manner, they are the only race with consistent access to psychics. Yes two of their major rivals (Romulans, Cardassians) are somewhat immune to Vulcans but besides Ferengi no one is immune to Betazeds. But they never really use them. I am not sure if vorta are resistant, i would assume that if the Bajoran ear grab works on them then other more developed methods would as well. Although the ear grab might be some kind of minor sorcery instead of psychic power.

Not really, the Cardassians and Ferengi were decently depected as having a pretty alien mindset. The Cardassians would have seen it as a extremely fair and logical solution, if anything they would have disappointed that he didn't kill anyone to drive home the message.

Remember that more than anyone else the cardassians are completely at ease with losing people, they shrug off hundreds of thousands of deaths as the cost of war. They only get pissed off when the lives are wasted without gain. If anything they probably implied via their propaganda that Sisko did kill people on both sides to present his actions in a better light to their people.

>>63561643
See above.

>>63561621
I imagine not. The Starfleet people would be OK most of the time but having to listen to the thoughts of a room full of people hanging around a Orion woman or being near a Nausican would be pretty upsetting. Even Lawaxana couldn't tolerate people she liked for too long. No matter how polite they are trying to be that Nausican or Gorn can't help but imagine what your organs taste like and they are visualizing how to open you up quite explicitly. Oh yeah, and that Romulan in the corner is thinking about if you could be vivisected and the telepathic section of your brain used to enhance a mind probe device.

Also your head might explode if you accidentally link to a Tholian or Sheliak's mind.

There, a semi colon you fascist cunt.

I once spent a $5000 Federal Grant proving that rice could be economically grown in fucking Rhode Island, discovered two new species of invasive crop pests and what did i get? Some fuckhead complaining about using a colon instead of a semi colon.

Forget that i had used a minimal amount of Federal Grant money (i had $15,000 available) to do a test crop to rejuvenate the States agriculture industry, forget that i discovered two invasive pests. No, this fucker wanted to correct a minor spelling error.

Asshats like you are why New England doesn't have a independent rice growing agricultural sector and why invasive crop pests are ignored.
