ITT: Movies that made you cry

Gran torino also
>>63492561
>>63492561
All style no substance. I don't know how this would emotionally effect anyone. Ironic the movie tries so hard to be spiritual, yet it feels incredibly shallow, the movie has no soul at all.
>>63492868
Except it has an extraordinary amount of substance. Saying there is too much going on is a valid criticism but saying it lacks substance just shows you have no idea what you're talking about
>>63492561
>>63492672
good calls, except for Gran Torino that is
others include Mulholland Dr., Before Sunset, Margaret, and Boyhood for me
>>63492868
Style is substance, kuck.

The ayy ending ruined this movie so fucking much. Imagine how heart crunching and how powerful the movie would be if it had ended on him just repeating his wish to the blue fairy over and over as the credits begin to roll.
>>63493182
but the actual ending is bleaker and more moving and I also think it's necessary
in the ending we at first feel the deep sadness of losing the last trace of humanity that will ever exist and then the somehow even deeper sadness at the realization that this robot child will forever wander the empty home missing his mother. I think it's the final stroke in making us feel as much as possible for the robot to the point that the divide between human and machine is completely eclipsed

>beauty is brains
Ordet
>>63493282
I disagree, at the end of the movie he remains next to his mother's corpse waiting for entrophy to do its job. It's bleaker, yes, but there was a 10 minute interdimensional alien segment precedeeing it after a fawx-ending. I mean, come on. Most people were snapped right out of a sad moment into a WTF and when they were supposed to feel sad it was just like... that's it?
But that's just my opinion desu

THIS
>>63493314
Yes
>>63493314
Good choice.
fucking tears mate

I know there's a meme about arguing the difference between robot and alien but it seems quite clear that the figures at the end of the movie are robots. I think that ending captures this great feeling of profound emotion for these artificial lifeforms while also showing us this barren world in which machines continue to develop despite the fact that everything has come to an end. There's something very sad about their perseverance to me. And I think it further raises the issue of who it is exactly that is more artificial. People created these robots but it was the robots that outlasted us. The movie brings David as close to the brink of being human (his perpetual wish) while at the same time damning him to living eternally, existing forever. It's tragic as fuck.
I've really never understood people's issues with the end of the movie.

My family went to our cottage back in like 2002. We watched my dog skip the first night, A.I the 2end night, and our dog(a jack Russel terrier. Reason my parents thought my dog skip would be a good pick) was hit by a car and died on the 3rd day.
So yeah, my pick is A.I and My dog Skip.
The fucked up part about A.I's ending is, yeah... It was Spielbergs choice and not Kubricks... but the bigger one is, it seems like it was tacked on JUST to make it OBSCENELY depressing...They go to such great lengths to make it crystal clear the kid only has 1 day with his mom, and will spend the rest of his existence(which would prob. be till the sun explodes) abandoned in an empty home
50/50 made me feels.
But this scene when he's about to get surgery and freaks out brought tears to my eyes.
>>63494063

Really? You must have been fucked up on something.
I spent all year trying to find a movie that would make me cry. Watched all of the classic "Top Ten Movies to Make a Grown Man Cry!" As well as some more artistic and older movies.
Finally a few weeks ago I watched Million Dollar Baby and got some legit tears
>>63494767
you can't watch a movie thinking this, because you are ready for not to cry dumb
This made me cry for personal reasons, hard to explain or maybe relate to.
>>63494124
I know that feel man. This movie kind of crushed me. It did not help that i went into it thinking, oh hey another Seth Rogan stoner comedy.
>>63493498

There's just so many. Like the "I've had a rough year dad" in tenenbaums or in darjeeling when they find the drowning child in the river and can't save him
>>63494110
I always assumed he shutdown after that.
Big Fish
The story his son tells at the end had me bawling.
