The Star Wars OT being good movies is some kind of meme right? You don't seriously enjoy this shit do you? The horribly dated effects, bad acting, shit alien design, offensively simplistic good vs evil story full of moralfaggotry, how does this appeal to anyone other than children?
>>
its not meme but more like
>pleb parents forcing it on their children over and over until they think they like it
i get the irony so please don't bully as memes are natural flowing thing outside of this subchan board

Are you people even trying anymore?

4 and 5 are good movies 6 is ok. Who cares if the plot is simple and is about good vs evil? It's just supposed to be a blockbuster space opera that focuses on the hero's journey and it does it marvelously. The effects were ground breaking when it came out and the acting is decent. Alec Guinness wad even nominated for a Oscar for his role in A New Hope.

>The horribly dated effects

you have to appreciate them for the time frame that they came out. It's no different with say cars from the 60s or 70s. Even a lot of exotics from that time frame are best in performance now by mid level sedan like cars.

that changes nothing about what make those older cars interesting to drive or see.

and again people always forget that Starwars IS a damn kid's movie. All the star wars films are kiddy movies and the new one is going to be a kid movie too. Nothing wrong with that but stop acting shocked when they all have simple elements that a *gasp* even a kid can fallow.

It's a classic "hero's journey" adventure story in the style of the flash gordon serials that draws from various tried-and-true genre tropes while still being an original creation with its own scifi/fantasy concepts. It was never meant to be high art, just classic fantasy adventure fun. It didn't become huge for no reason, it clearly connected with the people of the time in a meaningful way even if it isn't perfect. Not every movie has to have complex characters with ambiguous moral standings, sometimes it's just fun to see the underdog rebels take down the big evil empire. It's escapism at its finest.

Lighten up, OP.

Also god tier cinematography in ESB and god tier sound design throughout

Return has some great cinematography that's completely overlooked because it's kinda shit compared to the first two.

Who knows. Star Wars was the artistic genocide of mainstream film. You'd absolutely need to be brainwashed to have any fondness for any of this toy commercial series. If you have an affinity for the millenium falcon then you may as well have an affinity for corporate logos.

There's a reason shitty Flash Gordon / pulp sci-fi crap died out though

Fuck off, edgelord. Read some classic lit.
>>
>>63493152
Classic lit takes a shit on moralfaggotry

Classic lit will tell you there is no such thing as morality and no inherent values to the words good and evil

>every movie has to be high art or it's automatically worthless

Why can't we have both? Just don't watch the stuff you don't enjoy and share the things that you do with others. Why are you so sad?

it looks cool, the music is cool, the characters are fun

I rewatched all of the OT recently and loved them
