You are now aware that Bryan Cranston won more Emmys for Breaking Bad than James Gandolfini did for The Sopranos.
>>
We live in the age of the reddit meme. Of course he does.
>>
Well Cranston was actually acting. Gandolfini was a fat slob with anger issues in real life, thats why he died prematurely of a heart attack.
>>
>>63452524
>Well Cranston was actually acting
Putting on his reddit outfit and meming at the camera is hardly acting.
>>
>>63452493
the dead don't need emmy's OP
>>
To be fair Bryan really transformed himself into something completely different from his character of Hal which he had become synonymous with. Also Walt's character had a great arc(excluding last season) whereas James was largely playing himself and Tony stayed the same selfish asshole all through out the series.

Nice buzzwords, pal.

Gandolfini conveyed more emotion with his eyes than Cranston could ever do with his yelling and exaggerated facial expressions.

Who gives a fuck about the Emmys?

Gandolfini wasn't even the best actor on his own show.

Edie >>>> James. You know it's true.

Lmao
>>
>>63453230
Not at all. Gandolfini's character had more focus and played a more nuanced role. Gandolfini > Falco > every tv performance ever.
>>
>>63452493
He should have. JG didn't show any range. He simply played himself the whole time.
>>

Lmao senpai. Sopranofags on 4chan are just as bad as Breaking Bad fags on Reddit.

Yes, and not coincidentally that's what Gandolfini played in every part he ever took.

Gandolfini is nothing like Tony Soprano. Anyone who says otherwise is meming

I speak objectively. There's no real competition.

90%+ of his emotions was angry italian

I liked the show and Gandolfini was great but his character didn't have a lot of range

Watch S06E2 "Join The Club" then watch S06E16 "Chasing It".

Then say again that JG doesnt have any range.

The Sopranos wasn't one of those 'I AM ACTING LOOK AT ME EXPRESSING MYSELF IN THIS TENSE SCENE' shows, so it didn't need to get by on its lead male being an exceptional actor. It also has a great cast of talented supporting actors, whereas Breaking Bad has the cast of a made-for-TV movie with Cranston (and sometimes Esposito) carrying them.
>>
>>63452549
>Putting on his reddit outfit and meming at the camera is hardly acting.

what did he mean by this?
>>
Dillane > Cranston > Gandolfini
>>
Cranston had two phases in his role, Heisenberg and Walter. There was no in-between, no nuance, nothing. He only had two emotions the whole show. Not once did Cranston's acting bring any sort of humanity to Walter, he simply existed within the realms of a crime thriller, following a shallow linear character arc.
>>
>>63452493
it was so Emmys could get back ratings no one wanted to watch HBO win all the awards when they were too poor to afford it anyways.

>no in-betweens

the fuck are you talking about. Walt didn't go from nice guy to full Heisenberg via a switch. His character slowly descended to villainy each season going a little further, manipulating people, lying and eventually murdering. I liked the Sopranos more that was all through out the much better show but Cranston really did a good job with the character of Walt. The Sopranos was a series driven by plot whereas Breaking was more about the characters and their reactions to certain events.
>>
>>63453999
he yells appropriately. there's a difference between yelling out all of your dialogue for dramatic effect without knowing why and yelling because your character's an asshole who gets angry over everything.

also
>LE THIS IS NOT METH
>I AM LE ONE WHO KNOCKS
>I AM LE DANGER
>SAY MY NAME
>GATORADE ME BITCH
>I AM COCA COLA
>I PUT YOU UNDER LE JAIL
>NO HALF MEASURES WALT

the only memorable dialogue on breaking bad is hamfisted catchphrases made to seem 'badass'. they weren't even worthy of being memes like sopranos dialogue.

autism.
>>
>>63454186
>The Sopranos was a series driven by plot whereas Breaking was more about the characters and their reactions to certain events

the fuck are YOU talking about. It's literally the other way around. Breaking Bad relies heavily on cliffhangers, high octane sequences, one-liners and the like. The entirety of the Sopranos was driven by Tony, a character, and how he interacted with the characters and the world around him.
>>
Cranston to be fair was fantastic in Breaking Bad, although not as good as Gandolfini was in The Sopranos.

The more perplexing thing is, how the fuck does Aaron Paul have more Emmys than Michael Imperioli? All he does is cry, scream, do drugs and say "yo, magnets bitch!"
>>
>>63454633
Because Paul is easily a better actor than Imperioli? Maybe that's the reason.

>>63453509

>>63454186
Breaking Bad was a series driven by plot disguised as a character driven show where all the characters serve as caricatures to react to Walt's actions. Walt's development is just a linear arc from a high school teacher to meth kingpin. The Sopranos was actually a series driven by characters, much of the development and conflicts are internal. The characters actually have a rich sense of psychology, motivations, histories, relationships etc. Tony's internal breakdown and gradual march towards his basic immoral self in the last seasons was a much subtler and more compelling arc than Walt's, to the point where most viewers didn't even see that and wrongfully claim the show is just a series of meandering events where nothing changes and it's just people being angry at each other. Why? Because they look at shit on the surface level after watching shallow, spoonfeeding shows like Breaking Bad.

Paul and Imperioli basically played the same character, but Michael did a much better job. You actually felt sympathetic with Christopher a lot of the time, whereas most of the time I thought that Jesse was a fucking loser.

People on here underrate the Breaking Bad cast. Most of them were overall good.

Bryan Cranston - Phenomenal
Giancarlo Esposito - Amazing
Anna Gunn - Amazing
Bob Odenkirk - Amazing
Dean Norris - Great
Jonathan Banks - Great
Aaron Paul - Good
Betsy Brandt - Okay
RJ Mitte - Fucking terrible
>>
>>63454680
Imperioli as Christopher was way better. Even Robert Iler as AJ is better than Paul.
>>
>>63452493
Not exactly surprising. Everyone sucks Gandolfini's dick because he was in The Sopranos, a show considered by some (inexplicably) as the best show of all time, and because he died shortly after in his 50s. But he was a one-note actor (who happened to land the perfect role) and no great character actor. Cranston isn't Vincent D'Onofrio, but he is no lightweight either.

what a surprise. you know the whole acting element of this in a television show is being able to convincingly bring about this behavior under the guidance of a crew of people as part of a performance, and to be able to repeatedly do so for potentially many takes, right?

>>

What was so bad about her performance? I thought she did a fantastic job. Edie Falcao was obviously better as Carm but Anna Gunn was still one of the best on the show.
>>
>>63455127
Why would she yell that if the cameraman wasn't her son then?
>>
>>63455048
>automatically assume that the woman is with the paparazzi
>at the beginning of the video shes standing next to Gandolfini and his wife

for all you know it was Gandolfini's wife saying that about their kid, or his mother saying it to the paparazzi. The ladies he was with where clearly very bothered by the camera mans presence, that he was following them like that. They were probably complaining under their breath to each other but then when Gandolfini jumps to action they plead with him not to, knowing it will hurt his image and will look bad.

Gandolfini's wife was asian and the woman look too young to be his mother. Most likely the cameraman distanced himself from them to film Gandolfini.
>>
is james galdofini the i shiggy diggy hope you guys do this guy?
>>
>>63455411
His second wife was asian. That's his first wife he's with in the video. And the woman looks old enough to be his mother, you've clearly never seen how hard Italian-American women work to try and look as young as possible. Hair dyes, pounds and layers of makeup, the works, you name it.

Even still, a few incidents snapping at paparazzi doesn't just make you an out and out violent asshole.

What I can NOT grasp is how Anna Gunn got two and Elizabeth Moss got none for Mad Men. Aaron Paul winning three whilst Vincent Kartheiser didn't get nominated at ALL is blasphemy.

Hopkins is a one note actor and comes across as pretty delusional regarding his own talent. Ever seen his paintings?

Hell, Cranston was good (he always is) but nothing touches Gandolfini. Hell, there are incredible performances in movies as well that I'd rank over Walter White. Hopkins is just showing what a pleb he is.
