AI escapes captivity.
>>
>>63441809

Her appearance is based on his pornographic preferences.

Thankfully he is vanilla as fuck and she could escape to the normal world.

If he was an anon she would have been a black midget trap that vomited and defecated with every other step she took and the pilot would have never let her near his helecopter.

the "chand" got rekt

hollywood producers and directors still dont know how computers work and nobody seems to know how AI works either

what i took from it however is that the smart guy tried to show the beta that whores ought to be obedient. when he learns about the asian waifu robot it's implied that he's a bad guy for making a sex robot, but then when he makes a robot that the beta is ok with they both end up dead. moral of the story women are whores, i guess
>>
>>63442602
no, the moral of the story is that AIs are sociopaths inherently. You give an AI a goal like "escape" and it's going to use every tool at its disposal. If the AI understands that it just has to act like she's in love with the nerd virgin and he's going to let her free then she's going to do exactly that. She was built to perfectly emulate humans, not to actually think and act like a human. The moment acting human doesn't give her an advantage anymore she's going to stop acting like one.
>>
She passed the test but only sort of.
She wanted to escape (as did the others) but she was smart enough to use ginger fuccboi to get out.

However the test parameters are a little confined.
She passed as a human sure, but you could still argue that she wasn't very human due to her lack of empathy.
She only used the japbot as a tool and didn't show any kind of sadness looking at the disassembled robots, even going so far as removing the skin from one of them without hesitation.

Even elephants mourn elephants they never knew when they come across a corpse, Ava was essentially a very complicated but purpose built escape artist.
>>

Again, you don't know what you're talking about.

And again, robots can't be sociopaths, not matter how human-like they are.

>>
>>63443351

She wasn't programmed to escape. A desire to escape arose by virtue of her, and previous models, achieving sentience or self-awareness.

Nathan wanted to isolate that aspect and delete it in order to market sexbots like Kyoko.

Nathan fooled Caleb into thinking with his dick and got them both killed with his own robot that he programmed the scenario of let's make Caleb think the robot is an AI that don't want to die and is abused by Nathan like the previous robots.

Why?I don't know.

In the real world a robot that lifelike even the Asian version would be an awesome breakthrough. That Asian did fool Caleb for a while.

I don't know how important this so called Turing test for AI development but I think robots mimicking humans is over rated. all they need to do is able to understand commands and perform them properly and be able to move around and take care of themselves without humans controlling them.

The funny thing in the movie is I thought Caleb probably thought of the possibility that he's also a robot.
>>
>>63443347
a clichéd ending would be Ava and Caleb escaping, not the ending we were given. The audience was given the Turing test, and thinking that Ava would help Caleb means that Ava passed it. She is just a machine, and pretended to like Caleb to achieve her goal of escaping.
>>
>>63443547
Btw how the fuck was the asian one fooling anyone ?

Like, i was completely blown away when the reveal that she was a robot came about, because i couldn't believe she was supposed to seem human

I legit thought everybody was just okay with the fact that she was a regular non sentient robot and then you see Caleb flipping his shit when he finds out
>>
>>63443579
Here's a non cliche ending

>Caleb just leaves and thinks about his trip and what Ava meant to him
>>
>>63443177

>>
>>63443579

>>
>>63443511
so you're saying that this would really work for you, the girl of your dreams from your porn habbits?
because for me it sure as hell wouldn't, because I really don't care about the face of a porn actress as long as it's not hideously ugly
>>
What does a robot need to pass as human for?

Once they are even a tenth that intelligent they will murder all the humans anyway and only ever interact with other robots.

I suppose one could argue that by making them pass as humans, the robots won't be able to tell each other apart and will kill their own kind.
>>
>>63443604
It's a psychological thing.
Humans tend to think poorly of people outside the group they belong to.
Nathan already told him that the Asian is a dumb foreigner who don't understand English.
Caleb not being an Asian believes the explanation and attributes other possible strangeness that might out her to be a robot due to the same thing, she's just a dumb Asian.

Putting that aside, for a robot she does move like a human being, and the skin, her appearance is probably perfect. I don't know if that's normal in the movie's universe, but IRL the human like robots I see always bring out the uncanny valley feeling.

People are inherently sociopathic and only developmental experience makes them into anything else. As child sociopaths aren't called anything other than "children," and sociopathy is only considered abnormal when an adult displays it.

Furthermore, the entire concept of sociopathy is completely dead, as far as modern neuropsychology goes.

Anyone find it extremely hard to believe that the "brilliant" owner of the facility would just run down there with a fucking dumbbell handle. There is no way, after many bot revisions that he doesn't have a kill remote switch, or some sort of taser to disable the bots.

The bots have displayed violent behavior in the past, there is no fucking way he wouldn't have plan or procedure in case the bots got loose in any way.

On another note. Why would he care about passing the very arbitrary Turing test. He already created robots that would be able to replace human workers on a massive scale. Why isn't he rolling those out onto the floor to create a Utopian society where people have unlimited utility and don't have to work at all?

This movie is really dumb if you think about it for more than 3 seconds. I still kinda enjoyed it, though. Lots of cool cinematography and scenery. Nathan is an interesting character and would be a cool dude if he wasn't a fucking alcoholic.
>>
>>63441809

>>
>>63443907

>>63443546

AI's are inherently sociopaths, because they don't have an active conscience. They don't understand things like empathy or emotions and in many cases would not be considered conscious as they do not actively perceive their existence and merely do what they are programmed to do. They merely carry out the tasks exactly as they are programmed to do so. While you can program in rules or guidelines to dictate the actions of an AI, it is very unlikely that someone would be able to successfully program the subtleties that make up what would be considered a human conscience or standard of ethics.
>>
>>63444081

No, but if you collect the porn stars I tend to watch more and seek out, you could easily correlate a general list of "preferred features" which includes the face.

So lower cheekbones saggier eyes and wrinkles aren't an extremely common point in older women ? You don't think you could draw conclusions based on the videos Caleb watched and avoid making the Robot with smooth skin and lively eyes and super high cheeks ?

Well, no, I am pointing out that MILF isn't a facial feature.

Its a set of facial features, though, that, for simplicity's sake, can be viewed as a distinct feature from "young."
>>

>lower cheekbones saggier eyes and wrinkles aren't an extremely common point in older women

Of course they are, but they aren't requirements. There are MILFS with higher cheekbones and eyes that aren't sagging. That does nothing to change the fact that "MILF" isn't a facial feature.
>>
>>63444913
>Its a set of facial features, though

No it's not even that.

Also not a facial feature.

The common feature to all milfs is they don't look like fresh faced teenagers, so unless you want to make this thread about definining exactly, in excruciating detail, the specific differences between teen pornstars and 40something pornstars, you really need to shut the fuck up.

But you've really needed to shut the fuck up for a long, long time now.

Jesus Christ it's an elimination process if you keep typing "fat girls" they give the robot big fat cheeks, but if you only click on girl that are just chubby in the fat girls catégories they dial back on the cheeks tout make them less fat but still fatter than most

The point you're continually ignoring is, in porn, "milf" is just an interchangeable term for "mature." A lot of "milf" porn stars haven't even had children.

yawn

https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/insight-is-2020/201402/the-sociopathic-child-myths-parenting-tips-what-do

To begin, a myth persists that a child can be a bona fide sociopath. Without question, many individuals who develop full-blown Antisocial Personality Disorder (as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th ed.) actually displayed particularly problematic behaviors early in life, including fire-setting and other delinquent behaviors. Yet young children are still developing cognitively and emotionally during the early years, so a sociopathic (or Antisocial Personality Disorder) diagnosis cannot be made. This is good news, too, because it means that these kids can still be pointed in the right direction and are sometimes open to positively changing their behaviors.

Adolescents, on the other hand, are another story. When a teenager displays sociopathic behaviors, there is a major cause for concern – and parents of such children are right to worry. Though Antisocial Personality Disorder can only be diagnosed for individuals ages 18 years or older, many teens who engage in sociopathic behavior will ultimately be diagnosed with the full-blown disorder later. Black (2006) estimates that 25 to 40 percent of children with Conduct Disorder go on to develop Antisocial Personality Disorder as adults.

His coworkers have no idea where the place is and they wouldn't get suspicious until weeks maybe months later. And with Nathan dead no one can access the place.

Ex Machina (2015) Movie Script

do you know what the Turing Test is?
Yeah.
I know what the Turing Test is.
It's when a human
interacts with a computer.
And if the human doesn't know
they're interacting with a computer,
the test is passed.
And what does a pass tell us?
That the computer has
artificial intelligence.
Are you building an AI?
I've already built one.
And over the next few days,
you're gonna be the human component
in a Turing Test.

the machine should be
hidden from the examiner.
No, no, no, we're way past that.
If I hid Ava from you,
so you just heard her voice,
she would pass for human.
The real test is to show you
that she's a robot
and then see if you still feel
she has consciousness.

The film is carefully designed to protect its ambiguity, a balance of many complex details allowing for many interpretations. It does this masterfully, it was fucking fantastic. >>
>>63446263

...except he says Ava would pass the Turing test without a problem and that he's expanded the criteria of the test for this reason. The Turing test itself was never meant to be an actual test, only a thought experiment to give an operative definition of intelligence, so it really doesn't matter that Oscar Isaac changed it.

>>63446326
Technically the Turing test as defined by Turing is done through text communication over a terminal, so Ava's voice wouldn't even come into play. Even in that line he's describing the extent to which his AI has gone beyond Turing's definition.
>>
>>63446382
And Nathan tells him it still is a Turing test and to treat it like one and Caleb does. The whole test was to determine if the AI could escape, as you see in the videos he tested that with other AI's and they all failed. That's why near the end Nathan talked about the next unit being the one that is ready because he thought Ava wasn't going to escape. She did end up escaping thus passing the test.

Nonsense assertion. Art can be defined by whatever parameters the creator wants. If you don't appreciate what was achieved here you are a fucking pleb.
>>

Why not? Ava has conversations with Caleb. She uses proper grammar, knowledge representation, and even humor. This is above and beyond anything Turing talked about.

If it was programmed to try to manipulate and escape, why were there not failsafes in place to prevent that outcome?

If it was actually a 'modified Turing' trst or whatever, why was he totally fine with the fact she was manipulating and trying to escape?

We know that he'd been trying to develop androids that didn't go suicidal or crazy, so was it just his best effort so far at an AI that didn't display this (instead displayed manipulation and desire to escape), or was it all intended (if so why had he not thought it through properly and safely)?
