My Dad for years made our whole family watch TV with something like this. All it did was read the CC and if there was profanity it would mute it and sometimes come up with its own CC with the "bad word" replaced.

I've seen a few different versions of these sort of players in thrift store. They all have some sort of phone (for the old one) or network port. It just has a data base of films and what needs to be "skipped".
I really don't see why these sort of thing even exists for the most part. It's like this strange device for the oxymoron of a lazy over protective parent. The funny part is that even rated R stuff is rather watered down now and most films seem to be a lame PG13 anyways.

yeah go poke around the web site for the company. They have a release list of movies that has filters and new films on the way they plan to have filter. It also looks like you need to pay for a membership to download filters.. So you need to stick to films they have cleared for the player to filter already.
it's just one of those bizarre devices that as I said before should not really even have any sort of market demand but clearly it does.
