Why are there some Force powers that are implied to be inherently evil? The Force is neutral, it is neither good nor evil on its own; it's how people use it (and more importantly, to what end) that makes it Light or Dark. If this is indeed true, shouldn't Jedi have no qualms about learning powers like Sidious' stealth ability or force lightning?
The Sith mainly use lightning to torture and kill, but there are hundreds of other practical applications for millions of volts of electricity delivered on-demand.

No, old EU-KOTR2-baby. The force exists, it is all things, and it has a dark side that is indeed bad but a natural part of things. The Sith are bad because they expand the Dark Side like a cancerous growth on the entire thing.
In the EU there are Jedi that used Force lightning, but its use was viewed as inherently corrupting, and most Jedi Councils forbade its use.

OP, what you described is what the force originally was. A tool, like a sword that was neither good nor bad but could be used to do good or bad things.
Then, Lucas changed it. There are different sides (dark and light) and they are based on evul and gud.

Yes... Not literally a different kind of force. I'm pretty sure the dark and light side were just different ways of worshipping the same thing akin to religions. Come on, there being an actual dark side that could seduce you and turn you evil is just dumb and childish. Vader got a taste of the empire, liked it, joined it, and now helps the emperor.
