ITT: Post you favorite government-produced Canadian films

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGqZn5s_q_Y [Embed]

This is one of the comfiest short films/documentaries I've ever seen.

Why is the Canadian government so successful at producing this kind of feel?

Love these shorts that were a staple of Canadian tv in my youth.

They make pretty good cartoons as well.
There was a late-night show on Cartoon Network back in the day called O' Canada, and most (maybe all) of the shorts were from the National Canadian film board
>>
I grew up on the Saskatchewan/Alberta prairies. Watching me does not make me feel comfy, it only brings back memories of crushing boredom and waiting to do better shit with my life. Just an utterly stagnant and dead area of this world
>>
I have been looking for years for the one cartoon of a whistling beaver
anyone remember this?

Do they even operate small grain elevators like that anymore or are they all abandoned?
>>
>>63426141
That film almost looks and sounds like a Boards of Canada music video already. Surprised no one has edited this to one of their songs.
>>
>>63426859
Yes, not from Alberta but there are plenty of farms in Rural Ontario that use ~50 year old (renovated) silos

There's an abandoned one heading west on the 401 that looks like a salsa jar

Was Keaton Canadian?

Norman McLaren made really fun avante-garde shorts. Linking is too much work on my phone but Neighbors is great, not typical for him at all though

No, but he made one of his final films in Canada with the NFB, The Railrodder. Buster Keaton Rides Again is about the making of that short.

they always made weird fucking shit, i can't name one but i remember some 15 minute thing where this guy wakes up gets dressed and stumbles through his house the whole time while someone's constantly ringing his doorbell
then at the end he finally gets to the front door and opens it and a masked man raises a shotgun and shoots him

gave me nightmares for years..
