Are Pop! figures going to be the next Beanie Babies?
The Bane figure is currently going for $130 on eBay, how long until the bubble will burst?
>>63420810
Is it a big toy?
>>63420810
At least beanie babies were cute. This are reddit-tier
That's an expensive guy.
>>63420810
That's a big price.
As much as I hate these fucking figures, the Bane one looks kinda cool. Fuck paying $130 though.
>>63420810
Do you own any Pop Figures, /tv/?
>>63421073
Bow to the queen you beta €uck
>>63421073
TFW i have almost every Star Wars figure
I'm going to list them all on Ebay right before the movie release. Should make 3x what I spent on them
>>63421073

>>63421177
I even have the Chrome Captain Phasma
didn't get the chase edition pilot though
>>63420905

>>63421228
The bubble burst when another company enters the market to get in on it.
The gains then turn into losses as the other company competes by undercutting the competition with lower prices.
the hell are pop figures
>>63420810
thats a big price
How do they get the licenses to so many separate franchises?
I see these and there's Marvel next to DC next to Doctor Who next to Game of Thrones.
I mean with Lego or something, you get knock-offs from different competing companies (Kre-O, Character Options, Mega Bloks, etc.).
>>63421405
Joke has been made already. Go home.
>>63421439
you sound like a c͏͏u͏͏c͏͏k t͏͏b͏͏h f͏͏a͏͏m
>>63421419
The damn things are made of vinyl, and hollow at that. So long as people buy them at the current prices, they'll take in money.
>CHOKING HAZARD. Small Parts.
How? It's a big figure.
>>63421439
Hello reddit
>>63421363
2010 Beanie Babies
I've got 3. But I think the vast majority of them are awful/boring.
>>63421494
If you take off his mask, it'd be very hazardous.
For small chidren
>>63421419
its the illuminati mane
I have never bought one of these things and never will.
They just seem lifeless. It's such a bland thing to buy, and it doesn't do anything. You can't even pose it.
>>63421486
But even if they're cheap, wouldn't companies object to selling their IP since it's also being used to sell their competitors'?
Surely Marvel would say, "Nope, since you're selling DC shit, we'll find our own vinyl toy manufacturers"?
I can't think of where this has happened before, unless the idea is that they're series released at specific times and that makes it OK (selling Marvel toys one week, moving on to DC the next).
>>63421546
Is the mask actually detachable?
I don't think toys should reveal what Bane looks like without his mask. It was always a big mystery. This can only be a disappointment like that one Doctor Claw toy.
There's even an official Felicia Day pop vinyl
>>63421606
Because they're popular.
Marvel and other companies somehow have the wisdom to understand that people aren't buying them because they're vinyl dolls. They're buying them because they're Funko POP! dolls.
They lose no potential sales and gain massive free advertisement
>>63421342
That's not how bubbles work.
Bubbles pop when the value of the object does not reflect supply or demand. This is usually caused by a shit ton of people buying out at the same time causing a massive influx in supply, this drives the value to nothing and nobody wants to sell it anymore.
The buy outs are usually caused by a lack of faith in the product to hold value OR the sell value being really high and people wanting to get in on that high sell value but wind up just driving the price down.
>>63421569
I've known people who collect them and they leave them in the boxes.
I thought maybe there was some appeal to having a chibi Bane on your shelf, but nope. That depreciates their value (and "they look better in the box" is what I keep hearing).
So instead weirdos just have shelves full of boxes of the things.

you're both ćucks

>>63421805
Why the fuck is this shit still in the casing?
Do you really think you're going to resell it?
There are millions of these.
It's just fucking beanie babies again.
Take it out, cum on it, shove it up your ass, whatever.
It's still going to be worth the same as it is in the box.
Which is nothing.
Some hothead bidding over 100 quid on an ebay item doesn't mean that is its actual value φam
>>63421887
go away you hobbyless čuck.
>>63422116
Collecting dolls is not a hobby.
>>63420810
That's a big price.
>>63421257
kek
My friend loves these things. I think they're pretty overpriced and never fit the characters they're going for.

Stop making this joke, jesus
>>63422185
MMMM
what actually happened with Beanie Babies?
>>63422185
That's a big joke.
>>63422234
Fizzled. Then brought back but fizzled even sooner.
>>63421073
I bought a Walter White figure back when I had /tv/'s permission to like Breaking Bad. But then then Reddit discovered the show and I had no choice but to throw it onto the rooftop.
>>63422234
They were marketed as a collectible and people ate it up.
It became like a popculture thing that went far beyond what the company expected.
Everyone KNEW that if you took off the tag, it lost "value".
It was a meme. A literal meme that Beanie Babies would be valuable in the future and that collecting them is an "investment".
But as you can tell now, there are no retired millionaires who sold their collection for hundreds a pop.
>POP
>not Mighty Muggs
Step it up, anons.
>>63422308
>>63422331
So they're worthless?
>>63422320
I have a Walter White one too.
@63420810
thats a big price
>>63422382
On Ebay it appears they're going for under ten dollars each.
So functionally worthless.
Also
>Princess Diana Bear going for over 1000
>One still in the box for less than 100
You can smell the desperation
>>63422382
>So they're worthless?
Yes. Just like Pokemon cards and these Pop dolls.
>>63422709
Back when the first generation of Pokemon TCG came out nobody expected them to still be making cards 20 years later.
>>63422234
Artificially created limited supply, media exposure shooting prices into the sky, bubble bursting when the company announced they would cease production on all beanie babies
>>63422709
>Just like Pokemon cards
There are still Pokémon cards going for hundreds of dollars. And I don't mean just listed on eBay, I mean people are actually buying them.
>>63423253
That's only because Pokemon is still a thing.
If Pokemon dies, the card wills go too.
Pop dolls won't have the same longevity
>>63423253
Collectible card games are stupid.
The one aspect I do like is when people rip up expensive cards:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dD8mWy1ty8
>>63421073
This is the only one I have. They look okay when it's non humans.
>>63423421
what the fuck is happening in that video?
>>63423628
guy is ripping up a rare Magic card called Mana Drain, worth about $200-250
>>63423628
It appears that they dare someone to rip the first card after shuffling.
It's a valuable one
>>63421073
I've got these ones pre-ordered.
>>63421073
Turbo, Mahna Mahna guy, and Fredzilla.
Can't stand the beady black eyes of Pops, but with those guys, that was a moot point. Though I drew pupils on Turbo's yellow eyes with a sharpee
>>63423758
>>63423758
the fuck is that
>>63423758
Lmao, sort your life out.
