Is 2001: A Space Odyssey the only truly Lovecraftian film?

The only good parts of this movie were discovery and when Hal goes nutzo.
The scene where the astrofuck tells Hal to rotate the pod, disable communications as part of a test. so tense, so dope.
Overall shit movie though.
I bet you're the kind of fuck who thinks call of cthulhu is the best of Lovecraft when the objectively best story is Shadow over Innsmouth.

The Matrix.

Nobody thinks The Call of Cthulhu was the best story. It's just the title everyone recognizes, plus it was the introduction of Cthulhu.

>people like this exist
>>63417142
>best story is Shadow over Innsmouth.
>not Color
>>63417142
Shadow is the best... maybe rats in the walls...
Shadow is better introduction for people not used to weird fiction and the lovecraft style, but rats in the walls is just as amazing

No, not even close. In what way is 2001 even Lovecraftian?
>>63417142
>when the objectively best story is Shadow over Innsmouth.
The Rats in the Walls is better though. And it's not even his best. In fact, there is no "best" Lovecraft story.
is it really lovecraftian though? seems like a stretch
More like Arthur Clarkian, as he wrote the fucking thing.
>>63417074
There is nothing lovecraftian about this.

I get that people spell color differently in different parts of the world but that is just way wrong

>what is Re-Animator
>what is From Beyond
>what is a film that is both 1) actually based on Lovecraft's work and 2) actually manages to capture the basic theme of Scientist Driven to Madness By The Unknown
>>63418862
>not mentioning In the Mouth of Madness
Still the best IMO. But some direct and accurate adaptations (as in, not like the movies Re-Animator or Whisperer in Darkness) would be very welcome.
Have you seen The Banshee Chapter? It's based on From Beyond (the story is even talked about in the movie, kek) and is pretty good aside from the underwhelming final act and one retard tier jumpscare at the beginning. Ultraviolet machine is replaced with CIA drugs and number stations, and the actual creatures that come "from beyond" are literally invisible in the entire movie but their presence isn't, that was honestly done extremely well for the most part.

>Lovecraftian
If this is a fancy way of asking if it's shite, then yes. The singing monkey's ruined it.
