Anyone else feels like there's no Star Wars hype? As if everyone knows they should be hyped, but aren't for some reason. Every time Disney shoves it in various ads and shows you can't help but feel annoyed. You can tell they're forcing the hype, your brain knows it's all fake.

Personally the prequels not even because they were poorly conceived was a story that didn't really need telling. This is just tacking something on to the end of what was a pretty clean satisfying ending anyway. I really don't care. I'll probably go see it at some point when my schedule allows but no I'm not really "hype" for it.
What I am honestly more interested in is Rogue Squadron. It's what they should have done to begin with concerning the franchise, and that's explore more of the Star Wars universe. Be tween the little things that Lucas didn't feel the need to flesh out and all the extended universe shit there is/was tons of great material to work with. My assumption is though that even though they'd stand to make millions having to share that with any of the creators of the other stories or characters was unacceptable. I just don't give a fuck about the Skywalker line or legacy or children and grandchildren of any of the original characters.

No, its the exact opposite. Abrams has a lot to make up for. For to "live up" to what lucas has done with the franchise, all he'd need to do is make a movie that's better than attack of the clones. So what abrams has to do, in order to make up for the prequels, is make a star wars movie that's so good it causes people to forget the prequels and special editions happened.
