The party that i affiliate with the most focuses more on the economical rather than social issues. However i am right wing conservative. And it might be true that majority of conservative parties are right wing as well. But you have to keep in mind that allowing american political scene to influence your perception of politics as a whole is a bad decision.
I mean american politics is incredibly liberal with european one. The basis of the confusion really is that while american conservative values were built around the liberal principles, the european conservative values were built around what was well considered conservative at the time - that is patriarchal structure of the society. Strong state, tradition, all that jazz.
