The DC movie universe was neutered to begin with. We're already oversaturated with dark and gritty, which doesn't work with superman in the first place. Marvel has already consumed most of the goodwill towards superhero movies, and that whole genre will probably collapse in a few years. Affleck could be an alright Batman, but we just had three incredibly popular Batman movies that will force a comparison that the new Batman doesn't want to make. We recently had an awful Green Lantern movie that will dissuade people from seeing another one. Aquaman and Martian Manhunter would be difficult to make movies around (although Marvel has had some recent success in making profitable movies from shit-tier source material). And somewhere along the line they came to the decision that people don't want to have fun when they watch popcorn blockbuster action flicks, and now the movies can't be funny.
This movie might be alright. It certainly looks better than Man of Steel. But the DCCU was poorly planned from the start. Maybe we can pull it off in 20 years.

He's absolutely terrible as Lex Luthor. Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey brought their own take on the character and both were decent portrayals. The problem with Eisenberg is he simply cannot act. For some reason he is incapable of playing pretend on screen as a fictional character and always plays himself in some way or another. And we're talking about capeshit characters here. Maybe it's autism, or maybe he just doesn't care enough and is only in it for the paychecks, but nobody can deny that he's one of the worst "actors" currently working in hollywood.
