This movie is going to kick ass?
>>63379470
Just like Birdman, it will be utter shit loved by the reddit crowd

Too long.
Want to Hardy post now.
HOW ANGRY IS LEO ON THIS ONE
Hey guys did you know Boyhood took 12 years to make.
>>63379932
So basically, the much more relevant audience will have a positive reaction, while your self-hating, hairy, cellulite-riddled ass will shitpost about it on /tv/?
>>63379968
no, my dog told me to type it just now but hes more of a film buff than I am
>>63380032
Men don't have cellulite, roastie.
>>63380032
go back to the much more relevant audience website then buddy

This is a terrible meme. Curb your autism.
>Men don't have cellulite
Right. Keep believing that's just unlucky genetics.

>Cellulitis is fairly common and affects people of all races and ages. Men and women appear to be equally affected.
>BLUNDER OF THE CENTURY
/v/ will never, ever leave, will they?
>>63380125
Nah, I like using both. Reddit for lurking (let's face, anything newsworthy posted here is posted there first); /tv/ for shitposting and genuine discussion (depending on the type of responses I get).
>>63380017
That critic consensus will always make me laugh. You could replace "Boyhood" with any movie title and it would still be more accurate.
>>63380179
>Epic in technical scale but breathlessly intimate in narrative scope, Problem Child 2 is a sprawling investigation of the human condition.
I hope this becomes a new pasta. Replace "Problem Child" with anything.
is there an even more inauthentic director than inarritu? villeneuve comes to mind but inarritu takes the fucking cake

How is Villeneuve inauthentic?
>>63379470
some people just don't like his style. his best film is at 80%/7.5

my second fav meme critique, right after "pretentious"
>>63380239
Babel and Bitufiul were pretty good but Birdman and his behavior during its release revealed he was a genuine asshat. I will never understand why so many people adore that movie. It's the dictionary definition of Oscar bait.
>>63380249
You find a diamond in the rough once in a while. It's nice being able to have a productive yet transient exchange of ideas without voting, names, labels, or other technical specificities getting in the way.
The last thread I got a lot out of was a "No Country for Old Men" thread a few days back.

what is the deal with screeners not leaking this oscar season?
is there some new protocol?
Usually every movie comes out in watchable quality this time of the year...
>>63380255
Prisoners is THE example of inauthentic sensibility cinema. It doesn't get more juvenile "film buff" than this movie. Everything from the casting, to the themes, to the cinematography. It physically pains me to even think about it. Fincher was always the epitome of IMDB to me until this movie, but then Villenvue managed to topple him. He has no style and never had anything remotely interesting to say. I don't get him. He's just another polished post-fincher gritty popcorn director.
>>63380357
>>63380373
I fucking hate this place
>>63380378
apart from last year when they only got leaked towards end of month
>>63380405
>Everything from the casting, to the themes, to the cinematography.
Can you provide examples of how each of these aspects is inauthentic in presentation?
>He has no style and never had anything remotely interesting to say.
He clearly has a style. A more accurate claim would be, "I dislike his style."
Finding interest in his work is totally subjective, though, so fair enough.
>He's just another polished post-fincher gritty popcorn director.
>polished
So you do admit he's technically proficient?
>post-fincher
This seems rather arbitrary. Why not post-Kariostami? Or post-Romm?
>popcorn director
If this were true, why don't his movies make as much money as other pure popcorn flicks, i.e. MCU universe, Transformers series, Bond series, etc.?
I like how it's literally impossible to discuss a well-reviewed film on /tv/
edit: thanks for the gold!
>>63380571
how did you figure out how to edit your post?
edit: doesn't matter
>>63380239
It went way over budget and cost $135 million to make(not including advertisement).
Will it be a box office flop?
>>63380691
No way. All of my normie friends who have seen the trailer are hyped for this. The only other movie they care about is Star Wars, so do the math.
>>63380691
theres a reason they got the meme-ist actor going and its not for his acting. He can pull in money no problem

Fuck I thought this film and the Hateful Eight were coming out on Christmas day. But apparently the film doesn't get a worldwide release until Jan 8, the fuck. I was hoping to have spent Christmas watching two westerns back to back, but it looks like I'll only be shitposting on /tv/ instead.

>>63381425
How is that Oscar bait in any way?
>Films seen as Oscar bait often have distinct characteristics. Lavishly produced epic length period dramas, often set against tragic historical events such as the Holocaust, are frequently seen this way and often contend for the technical Oscars such as cinematography, makeup and hairstyling, costume design or production design.[6] Alternatively, if set in the present, the plot may center around a character with a physical or mental disability. The cast may well include actors with previous awards or nominations, a trait that may also be shared by the director or writer.
