What are some good Wall Street / finance movies?
So far I've seen Wolf of Wallstreet, Wall Street 1 and 2. I would like to see some more, preferably presenting a realistic view (don't know if that's even possible).
As much as I like WoWS, I wish somebody would make a film about Wall Street that didn't use it as a vehicle for showcasing stereotypical greed. Like, what these guys do is legitimately interesting and deserves a worthy treatment.

so you just want a puff piece about what it's like working on wall street? that sounds like a terrible fucking movie.
OP you can also watch Margin Call which is decent

No, I just want a film that treats them aa people, and gives serious consideration to the work they do. That could be many different kinds of films.
Too Big to Fail is about the real events when the banks got bailed out
It's an HBO movie
Anyone know of a movie dealing with the crash of the subprime mortgage loan market in 2007-2008?

Margin Call.

It's also dull propaganda, which is more interested in repeating ideological points than telling a story.

boiler room is a pretty good one imo, made in the early 2000s

Also, The Big Short is coming out about it
Trading Places is a fine introduction to the commodities market, even if the plot is wacky and some of the humor isproblematic

I'm currently reading a book about how is supposedly went down, it's pretty damn interesting.
Margin Call for a more realistic showcase.
Inside Job because it's a GOAT documentary.
These were okay
for documentary films

Wolf of Wallstreet has very little to do with what is actually going on on Wallstreet.
Jordan Belfort was a fraudster much like Madoff just with a different scheme. The movie fails at making it clear to the laymen. You can find better depiction of how it worked and what was going on in another adaptation of the same material in the movie "Boiler Room".

It's as much a good introduction to commodities as Casino Royale is to poker.

Unfortunately most films made about the financial world are going to be heavily politicized, because Hollywood hates their professions and people want to have their assumptions affirmed.
Inside Job. Another liberal "documentary."
I don't personally recommend these

I think it's probably fair to say that about 90% of people who go into stocks do so because their main desire in life is to make a hell of a lot of money. nobody takes up that career because they want to help people or make the world a better place.

Margin Call it is, really great cast and performances.

Yeah, and? There's nothing wrong about that. Hollywood and people in general don't understand what they do, so they focus on vague generalities like greed and extrapolate convenient answers to make them bear more complicity than what is actually so.

And yet after reading the Themes section under the wiki, it seems to be more of the same liberal hand wringing. Maybe I'll give it a shot though.
