I remember loving the first when I was a kid and watching it again last year sometime and it did not hold up.
it was like on par with the lotr trilogy for me as a kid.
I think it's just the acting, it's like kabuki theater acting where expressions are exaggerated and lingering, it's just fucking off putting. and the dialogue is pretty hamfisted too.
