Is there any chance Prometheus is one of those great really underrated movies? I have never considered seeing it because I heard nothing but hateful comments about it, but my sister says she watched it last night and it was amazing.
>>
No.

It's good looking shit full of plot holes.
>>
>>63377119

I'd say it's probably one of the worst movies of the last few years

it's actually unbelievable how bad it really is
>>
>>63377163

I could forgive dumb characters but I can't forgive ruining the Space Jockeys.
>>
>shit, nonsensical script means it's underrated
>>
The first 10-15 minutes of this is pretty based.

The CGI sequence with his DNA collapsing is probably the best CGI to date in any movie so there is some fine details in this piece.

But really it is so fucking pleb after that like what is with directors having the mentality of a 15 year old edgelord.
>>
>>63377196
Isn't plot all the movie has going for it. It's not like it has gameplay to make it okay.
>>
>>63377119
>amazing
your sisters a pleb
>>
>>63377315
I'm a fucking basemend dwelling virgin though. She's a normie with a job and a life. She must understand things better than me.
>>
>>63377349

yeah, normies are usually the people with the best taste in art
>>
it's a stupid film, but a gorgeous stupid film
>>
>>63377434
Yes, because we know degenerate art by knowing degenerate people love it.
>>
Top score
Top direction
Top cinematography
Top acting
Top everything really
Oh except muh inconsistent plot device

It really takes a cinematically illiterate person to dislike Prometheus, it's a very good movie to gauge someone's pleb level.
>>
it should have been a movie without dialogue
>>
>>63377119
I still like it to this date, and I have never read any valid criticism to make me think otherwise.
>>
It's really worth watching just for the visuals. As are many other movies.

MMMMUUUUUUUH STORRY
>>
>>63377474

but normies working jobs in advertising and drinking after work cocktails while talking about how deep American History X goes are the true degenerates
>>
>>63377537
A person with a job will never be more degenerate than a basement NEET.
>>
>>63377537
No. The thing to note is that being a degenerate is something to be proud of in this normie world.
>>
>>63377534
>art
>possible to give objective valid criticism

hehe
>>
>>63377569

dunno mate, it depends a lot on the job. it's pretty close though I guess. Taking advertising for example is taking a group of people sitting in a room thinking up ways to convince people to buy shit they don't need. That sounds to me like about as much as a waste of life as someone who's a NEET

>>
It's a well directed dumb movie, I had fun with it, maybe you will have too
>>
>>63377119
Its good but it was a prequel that was suppose to answer questions and instead raised many more. Saw an in depth look into the plot holes and theres like 30 something.
>>
>>63377119
Just watch it, it isnt as bad as people say
>>
>>63377119
The first 10 minutes and the concept are intriguing but the plot seems like stitched together from 20 different people.
>>
>>63377470
Pretty much this. One of the prettiest films I've ever seen. At the very least Ridley Scott has not lost his visual flair.

I also think the plot holes are overblown. The movie is totally watchable and makes sense as long as you don't dig too deep. Prometheus is an 8/10 popcorn flick that pretends to be a serious film.
>>
>A fucking AXE in space.

Only white people come up with this shit
>>
Engineers were the only good parts of the movie.
>>
>>63377119
I wish the focused the story on the engineers instead of a 1hr 30min expostion about the explorers that will all predictably die anyway.
>>
7/10 movie. Most people don't like it due to the lack of answers to the many-raised profound questions. I think people will look back on it a lot more fondly once the three sequels establish a fuller look at the universe.
>>
>>63377923
Being intelligent really shouldn't be a crutch when it comes to enjoying a movie. Why should I have to be an idiot to enjoy something?
>>
>>63378119

A movie doesn't have to be intellectually stimulating to be enjoyable.
>>
>>63378227

this is true but it also shouldn't be intellectually deadening
>>
Looks amazing, atmosphere is amazing

Script is a total mess
>>
I shouldn't be surprised that people are defending this movie here. The only thing that you could possibly defend without saying "turn off your brain" or "it's fun" is the visuals, and maybe Fassbinder. It's a prequel to one of the best movies of all time and all it does is tarnish it's legacy.
>>
Only people with cinematic training can understand this film. It's marvelous.
>>
>>63377119
I've got some bad news for you: your sister loves the BBC, that's the only reason she could possibly like that movie
>>
>>63378240

If Prometheus results in an adverse physiological effect, it's probably a malfunction on your end. Sorry 'bout it, famigo.
>>
>>63378326
Intellectually deadening is exactly how I would describe Prometheus.
>>
>>63378447

Sorry you feel that way. Enjoy your wizardry.
>>
>>63377119
The first third is purty gud - then it just turns into another standard Hollywood movie.
>>
>>63378489
Sick rebuttal. Enjoy never engaging in actual discussion.
>>
>>63378555

Why would I want to discuss anything with you? You came off as dismissive and pretentious right off the bat. I have no interest in attempting to have a transaction of ideas with someone so socially and mentally maladaptive.
>>
>>63377119
this and man of steel are criminally underrated
>>
>>63378575
Those are excellent points about why Prometheus isn't a poorly constructed piece of shit. You've really opened my eyes.
>>
>>63378643

And that's an excellent way to continue the discussion you seem to so sadly pine for.
>>
>>63377119
>Is there any chance Prometheus is one of those great really underrated movies?

No. The plot is incoherent, the characters don't behave like humans (apart from the robot), it's a dumb movie that desperately wants to be smart.
>>
>>63378675
And that's an excellent way to get the last word and feel superior while continuing to be unable to defend your remarks.
>>
>>63378783

This is a very self-reflective post. Kudos.

Also:

>caring about winning arguments in the asshole of the Internet

Interesting to see what you consider intellectually stimulating.

The geologists that were scared of finding something got lost despite having mapping programs. Then the first alien they encounter they decide to go up and pet it. Doesn't make any fucking sense. It's heartwarming to see intellectually stunted children can still get something out of life.
>>
>>63379110

It's depressing to see you apparently have to resort to picking on retards to get a self-esteem boost.

Not that I'm surprised.
>>
Its a fantastic movie. Literally the ONLY criticism anybody can throw at it is "the characters behave stupidly. That's what they mean when they say plotholes.

However, "I would act differently were I in that situation" ≠ a bad movie.
>>
>>63379140
>>63379140

It's surprising that you think of yourself as a retard. In hindsight the fact that you love Prometheus and can't defend it should have been a dead giveaway.
>>
>>63379251

Work on your reading comprehension. I never claimed to love Prometheus, nor did I call myself a retard. But you did label me as one, and still continue to slap away like a little girl. Given this sequence of logic, I don't understand how you could be "surprised," nor do I understand how you can consider yourself an intellectual when your Internet victories all come against people you apparently consider retarded.

But, again, that's okay. I'm not expecting a Cambodian acupuncture forum to host world-beaters.

You were the first person to use the word retard and start with the ad hominem attacks. Your last statement stated that I was picking on retards and the only one I was talking to is you, ergo you must think of yourself as a retard. I simply wanted to hear an argument for why Prometheus isn't intellectually deadening, and you decided to pick a fight instead. I'm trying to engage you in discussion, but all you care about is being superior. Also you spend a hell of a lot of time talking about intellectualism and Internet victories for someone who claims to not care. Methinks the angry child doth protest too much.

False.
>It's heartwarming to see intellectually stunted children can still get something out of life.

>Your last statement stated that I was picking on retards and the only one I was talking to is you, ergo you must think of yourself as a retard.

I'm wondering how you can consider yourself an intellectual when you deign to argue with people you label as retards. This isn't hard to understand.

> I simply wanted to hear an argument for why Prometheus isn't intellectually deadening, and you decided to pick a fight instead. I'm trying to engage you in discussion, but all you care about is being superior.

Also false. I just don't like you enough to want to have a productive conversation with you.

>Also you spend a hell of a lot of time talking about intellectualism and Internet victories for someone who claims to not care. Methinks the angry child doth protest too much.

Nope. Just procrastinating by keeping this going. Focus on your own motivations instead of playing armchair psychologist; you're no good at it.

>>
>>63377119
No, anyone can think it's a very well shot film, but if you focus on the story, it's very silly and incoherent at times. The problem is that most people will say it's amazing without thinking about the story.
And that's when you find out you are discussing what you consider to be the purpose of cinema, to someone who thinks it's just entertainment and moving images.

I assure you your opinion means a lot to me. I'll take it into due consideration.
>>
>>63379802
It doesn't take an armchair psychologist to see you're projecting. Hope you gain some self-awareness at some point.
>>
>>63379955

Actually, it does, considering projection is a psychological concept, and you definitely don't have enough ambition in life to earn any sort of accreditation; thus, armchair psychologist.

I have plenty of self-awareness, but thanks.
>>
It looks great, the design and the mix of CGI and practical effects makes it one of the better looking movies released in the 2010s I think, but the plot pisses people off because pretty much every development in the story hinges on someone doing something retarded.

The visuals were the only redeeming part of what was a piece of shit movie that is Prometheus. The story was a piece of shit wink wink at Aliens with none of the charm. The crew were chimps compared to what the crew of the first 2 Alien movies were. The sets were nice in Prometheus but the sets are impressive in the first 2. I wouldn't compare the first 2 masterpiece films that are Alien and Aliens to Prometheus but they're in the same universe. All they did was throw in some decent actors on a set made shit look futuristic and then hinted at some bullshit about the Alien mythos and then you have Prometheus, It was shit for a regular movie but since it's tied with 2 of the best movies you have a complete waste of what could have been.

Look at this very thread, the first criticism brainless 'muh plot holes' bullshit. I've seen gifs of people being hit by cars where they see the car coming and just stand there and freeze up, now is that a 'plot hole of real life' because they acted irrationally?
