ITT Games that would be great for a movie adaptation.

no

the first Mortal Kombat, not the stupid shit we have nowadays with triple agent sub cyborg zero smoke
metal gear
L.A. Noire
>>63370673
Hit man 47 was a blunder so was halo so will any fucking video game into movie fuck off back to /v/eddit were u can discuss how much u hate video games and argue who hates the most out of all of u
MG1&MG2
Simple plot
Show both new and old things
Grey Fox
Possible that Hayter might play Live Action Snake
Maybe Kurt Russel as Big BossAtleast before MGSV JUST those games
Also not video games but Voltron could also work for a movie as well
>>63370717
Yeah but I can admit they suck. I can also admit everything else coming out sucks too, like super hero movies. I'd still rather see a thing I'm familiar with botched than ignorantly enjoy a Superman movie because I don't understand what they fucked up from the comics.

Tiger Woods golf

You can watch that on ESPN 8
The last of us
>>63370626
Not really, each failure when judged on a case by case basis tends to suffer from alot of issues that have nothing to do with being a video game adaptation.
If it was just an honest straight adaptation and it completely sucked then yeah, people would realize that it's terrible. But they never do straight adaptations so it always leaves people thinking theres still a chance.

Drop the ee, Dingus. And kek

I love Metal Gear but its too derivative of many different movies from different eras
>>63370951
go to youtube and find a gameplay video of something you've never played before.
try to watch it for 90 minutes and tell me at what point you give up.
this is why video game movies dont work and never will.
>>63370979
Are you implying that movies need to be original to be good?
>>63370786
>capeshit is the only kind of movie coming out
Jesus I get it now ur just a normie
game stories are movie ripoffs.
>>63370996
>watching a 90 minute gameplay video is the same as a straight adaptation of a game's story
Y'know sometimes they make good videogames based off movies. Playing a videogame and watching a movie are two completely different experiences.
>>63371033
movie stories are play ripoffs
play stories are book ripoffs
>>63371031
>tfw never beat the game just got frustrated and quit
>>63371070
yes and this is why all media is shit
Borderlands.
It would probably be turned into Memefest 2k[currentyear] but it could work.
Especially since the Mad Max hype train has started.
>>63370589
Tetris, apparently.
>>63370626
First Mortal Kombat
Super Mario was a decent movie but a very strange adaption.I thought Street Fighter was trying to please a lot of people. I find it hard to hate.

Alan Wake

Life is Strange would be an interesting movie if they fix the ending.
>>63371033
There's literally no movie where the protagonist can wavedash or L-cancel, so your claim is incorrect.
>>63370589
all video game movies suck
but if it was somehow done well, a mass effect movie would be pretty coolbut only if it was about female shepard
>>63371262
gameplay is the thing inbetween stories because they cant into new mediums.
It would be fun.
Bayonetta, because why the fuck not?
Deus Ex: Human Revolution could be adapted into a movie with ease. The conflict between natural humans and the augmented cyborgs. The protagonist could struggle with keeping their humanity. It's been done before, so it would be panned as a RoboCop rip-off.
>>63371081
Same. It's the only game I liked that I never beat.
>>63371258
theres way more shit writing going on in this game than just the ending it would hardly transition into more than a cheesy 4/10 movie and i actually really like the game.
>>63371317
You can do those fucking things in real life though.
Indigo Prophecy
Heavy Rain
Would be fun if they didn't try and make the film appeal to the mainstream crowd and just went ultra hyper masculine in tone.
Sam&Max
>>63371202
>Splinter Cell
I can't believe how few Clancy movies there are
Perfect Dark would be great in the right hands

heavy rain is interesting but the stories are meh.

People don't know how to make proper video game movies.
Like hitman, just make it a heist movie, but instead of stealing gold you shoot a guy.

Gone Home, but with more underage lesbians.
>>63371948
this. It would be amazing.
>The story follows a middle-ranking Jian warrior's quest for the truth about his past who must weigh his loyalties between his lifelong mentor with a dark history and his new commander who obliterates all in the Jians' way while interacting with the morally and financially bankrupt citizens of a flashy and overgrown concrete jungle. Running time: 212 minutes.
>>63372127
Gay and not funny, also not animated. I guess people not familiar with the game would think it's just a bizarre pirates ripoff though.
Ape Escape.

The shin megami tensei could make a nice anime series.
I unironically liked the Doom movie. I think it would be even better if they made one vaguely related to the games.
Mgs3 with some very careful editing/rearranging of the story could probably work.

Literally start playing it again.
Trust me, your reflexes are tuned in.
>>63371892
What? No!
you know it to be true
deus ex and starcraft would be the only two that id be excited to see, and both adaptations would need to be modified more than just a little bit to work as a movie (and sc would probably end up being a trilogy)
>>63371202
A Deus Ex movie could be sick.
Mass effect might work too if done right.
They are commercially viable too.
A Bioshock movie could be great too, but it would require a big budget in combination with a lot more suggestive presentation. A silent protagonist who traverses through rapture and us seeing flashbacks or visions of the like, slowly filling in the story until we get to a big daddy action scene encounter and then the big reveal leading up to meeting Andrew Ryan...but as a traditionally told story I just don't see it working, or if it does work it won't be very interesting.

Somebody needs to make those VN's made by that one guy who loves King Crimson into movies right now.
>Bible Black
>Discipline
>Starless
Could you imagine that shit? People are starting to get really experimental with sex in film, I see this as the logical conclusion.
Possible directors could include:
>David Lynch
Master of sex, the scenes in Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive were masterfully done.
>Brian De Palma
His original plan for Body Double called for unsimulated sex. If anyone in Hollywood would be down for it it would be him.
>Nicholas Winding Refn
The man has style and autism in spades. What else do you need to make a VN?
>>63370589
I think the problem with video game movies is often that they're written by people who haven't played the games enough (if at all), and therefore don't understand how to adequately capture its essence.
The Hitman example someone posted above is a good one, actually. Make it a heist movie, but instead of stealing gold you shoot a guy. I think anyone who's played a lot of Hitman can see that's the way to go, yet they didn't do that at all.
>>63372653
This would be a comfy mystery. Would watch.
>>63371424
I never understood Wario and Waluigi.
Where the fuck did they come from?
>tfw no Silent Hill TV series that incorporates the events of the first three games throughout each season
>>63374932
This would work incredibly well honestly
>>63374940
Henry was best protagonist
>>63373275
Day of the Jackal is the best Hitman film.
>>63374962
No way, 4's bad ending is great though
>>63374862
Wario was a villain who was supposed to be the opposite of Mario.
Mario is nice and spends hiw whole time saving princesses and kicking Koopa asses, Wario is a greedy asshole.
Waluigi is the same thing for Luigi, and only exists because they needed characters to fill the selection screens in Mario Party and Mario Kart.
>>63376125
And of course, now that Luigi has his own little following (which makes sense since the Paper Mario and DS rpgs gave him much more of a character than Mario ever had), Waluigi also has a post-ironic "fanbase" that makes shitty fanart, rom hacks and say he is the best thing ever.
Command and Conquer
> enough warfare and explosions to keep the ADD retards entertained
