>>63360728
why is it popular on /tv/ to dismiss this film as merely edgy?

LOTR trilogy.
Every time I see it I notice more and more DARK GREY FILTER DARK BLUE FILTER YELLOW FILTER ORANGE FILTER hackery that was over-saturating the Hobbit.

Because /tv/ is full of pretentious memespouters who don't even get that the movie was making fun of Alex DeLarge
>>63361044
watched it with my ex. she gave me the most awesome blowjob straight after and bought me a copy of the movie which I threw in the trash.
No self-respecting white man above the age of 25 thinks this movie is anything but average at best.
>>63360632
movies with physical violence, lots of screaming, explosions, firearm worship, or tanks

Good film. Most people don't seem to get what Scorsese is doing though, and think it's just a "lol crazy" movie.
>>63360699
Never liked this. It's just a dumb, cynical version of the Driver.

Another one. Watching it recently I was taken aback at how bad Norton's performance actually is.

Opposite for me. Hated it as a teenager, but then I learned about filmmaking and drank the De Palma kool aid (his cum). Now I love it.

just because you don't relate to a film anymore doesn't make it bad. this film was really a message that if you get obsessed with money or drugs you will literally lose everything.
most people missed the point.. and everyone thought this film was crazy! and how much they'd like to be like da epic wolf!
Tried to enjoy this for the first time in 20 years the other night
The plot is ludicrous peter pannery with even less of a plot, its basically barney dressed as hook acting like pan and going on some pointless adventure where something intrinsic is "learned"
still has A+ cinematography, B- coreography, and an A+++++ soundtrack.
wish i was 5 still so i could fully apprecate this master piece
>>63364444
whoa look at this fucking modern day SAGE who is able to derive higher meaning from the wolf of wall street. Most people are too stupid to pick up on this highly cryptic film, i'm glad you're here so you can find and decrypt the TRUE and HONEST meaning of modern cinema.
Perhaps you can decode for us the hobbit trilogy.
Saw this as a teen when it came out and loved it. I just recently watched it again and it was pretty cheesy. I still like it but only because of nostalgia.
fight club
still like it but I cringe at how obsessed I was with that movie
I really fucking hate normies.
I don’t care what colour you are. I don’t care where you’re from. I don’t care what you do for a living. I don’t care what class you are, how you dress, what you smoke or drink or who you know or whom you’ve fucked.
I hate you all. I hate every last living, breathing, snot and feces producing, promiscuously copulating, celebrity obsessed, opinionated one of you. From right here in Toronto right around the planet and back, coast to coast, nationwide and internationally. Every. Single. Last. One. Of. You.
Fuck love. Fuck your insipid grasping at some abstract concept of chemical imbalances and reasonless actions, fumbling around in the crowd trying to find some cinematic supposition for real human interaction.
Fuck lust, too. Fuck you all, from the lowlife dirtbags that think dropping trou and waving the little soldier in a sloppy arc is a pick-up line to the sniveling of the desperate ‘nice guys’ who never get the girl due to a total lack of testosterone grown stones.
Fuck you all, from the crazy, under dressed sluts that judge a persons character by the price of their shirt, right down to the fat chicks that think personality is enough.
Fuck your culture. Fuck your race. Fuck your sense of entitlement. Fuck your sense of uniqueness. Fuck you all for the belief that you have something unique and interesting to contribute. Fuck you for filling the internet with your useless garbage. Fuck your blogs, your wikis, your forums. Fuck your “roasting”. And most of all, fuck whatever you believe. It’s all shit. Fuck it.
Fuck your complaints. Fuck your addictions. Fuck your dependencies. Fuck your pain. Fuck your tears. Fuck selling whatever it is you sell. Fuck your manipulation of others. Fuck movies. Fuck fucking. Fuck everything you own. Fuck your allergies. Fuck your stupid common sense. Fuck your spelling and fuck your lack of education, or your ignorance, whatever is applicable.
Idgf . Shut the fuck up about it.

As someone also in finance the movies not terribly over exaggerated, many things like what happened in the movie occur, of course there were more wild days on wall street before things were over regulated but you should probably go get your warm milk anyway and tuck yourself into bed before curfew if you ever idolized the people in this movie.

>>63361029
You guys know this movie is based on an autobiography, right?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wolf_of_Wall_Street_(book)
The movie also alludes to a lot of the shady stuff that actually weakened our economy up to the 2008 crash in America-- oversecuritization, the attitude that stocks are "fake, made-up money," among brokers, and the overall obsession we Americans have with Getting Rich Quick.

>Films you like less and less as you mature.
IMO this is actually the best gauge for how good cinema is, assuming you have good taste.
I find truly great and or original movies get better each time you watch them for various reasons.
Movies that were massive and everyone thought was brilliant often reveal their true colours 10/20 years down the line.
You watch it and realize it was mostly hype and doesn't hold its own weight without the cultural hype around it years later.
imo some obvious examples of movies that get better with age and/or each viewing.
-Terminator 1
-Terminator 2
-Ben Hur
-The Matrix
-Reservoir Dogs
-Jackie Brown
-Silence of the Lambs
-The Dirty Harry movies
-Taxi Driver
-Heat
-Collateral
-Eyes Wide Shut
-Mission Impossible
-Full Metal Jacket
-The Fast and the Furious
-Raiders of the Lost Arc
-Fellowship of the Ring
-Carlito's Way
and so on and so forth

>>>/reddit/
Probably this. Liked it a lot when I was 15 or so. Now I can see the clumsy exposition and dialogue, and don't enjoy the super-serious tone like I did when I was younger. It lacks charm with its seriousness, but its seriousness isn't convincing enough to make up for it, and then there are the hamfisted attempts at moral "depth" that come off clumsily as well.
Nolan's just mediocre af.
>>63364872
yeah, I liked The Crow as well.
I think its because a lot of styles and tones were reused so many times after this film came out. It set a trend.
To this day, fucking holloween or comic-cunt festival there are people dressed like The Crow.
>>63366148
I was about to post this. Also Ledgers performance seems more and more forced every time I see it, he overdoes it big time

Who do you think you're fooling with this shit? Kill yourself neckbeard. Go watch your campy tripe and stop bothering people with good taste.

This movie was Scorcese purely having fun with what he's learned about film making. It was entertaining and nothing more.
>>63365159

Dunston Checks In is a genre defining movie. Beyond it's hilarious highs and heart-rending lows, Dunston Checks In provides endless fun for those looking for a good time. Only a true and honest jackhammer wouldn't wanna be part of this fun romp. Dunston Checks In won the 1967 National Society of Film Critics awards for Best Film, Best Director (Bergman) and Best Actress (Andersson). The film was selected as the Swedish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 39th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. Dunston Checks In received widespread acclaim from critics and is considered by many as one of the best films of 1984. It holds a 97% "Certified Fresh" approval rating on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 67 reviews; the site's consensus called the film "an infectiously fun blend of special effects and comedy, with Dunston's hilarious deadpan performance leading a cast of great comic turns". On Metacritic, the film has a score of 67 out of 100, based on 7 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
