I review movies according to their genre - like Roger Ebert did. A 9/10 comedy is a 9/10 compared to other comedies. An 8/10 drama might be a better film than that 9/10 comedy, but the 9/10 comedy is a better comedy, than the 8/10 drama is a drama. Throwing nostalgia to the wind, not a lot of action movies - especially Western - are that much better than Mad Max 2 or 4.

The Raid 2 was a big disappointment and I really liked the first movie, it was like they totally missed what made the first film good. John Wick was fairly entertaining and had some great highlights like the club scene but it got fairly monotonous as it went on and I was ready for it to end as soon as he killed the Theon guy. Edge Of Tomorrow isn't far off Mad Max but the underwhelming final action scene and tacked on happy ending sour me on it somewhat.

Kill yourself. These posters are terrible. Imagine being in the theaters a few months before Die Hard, this tells you NOTHING about the movie. It only works in retrospect, and even then it takes a tiny part of the film and makes that the focus.
It would be like ET focusing entirely on a bag of reeses pieces, it says nothing about the tone or context of the film.

Dredd looks like it was filmed in some warehouse with some syfy channel level CGI effects. You can praise the visuals in Fury Road but Dredd was drab and cheap to the extreme. No film with CG blood splatter should ever be given a pass.
